Chapter 127: PE Class
“Ah-choo!” As soon as Gu Qinghuan stepped out of the Student Council building, the cold wind hit her, and she sneezed loudly.
Yu Xin pulled a tissue from her pocket and handed one to Gu Qinghuan. “Caught a cold?”
Jiang Chuchu reached out and touched her forehead. “Your temperature’s normal. You probably just got chilled by the wind.”
A little embarrassed, Gu Qinghuan took the tissue and blew her nose, murmuring, “I’m fine.”
After wiping her nose, she tossed the used tissue into a trash bin by the roadside and perked up. “Besides, we’ve got PE class this afternoon. I still want to play badminton.”
At the mention of PE class, Yu Xin’s face fell. While she wasn’t unfit, the third class’s PE always involved running 800 meters, which was torture for her.
Gu Qinghuan didn’t like running 800 meters either, but she could grit her teeth and get through it—after all, it was only a few minutes, and once done, they could move on to free activity.
By the time PE class started, there was great news—it was raining!
The rain wasn’t heavy, but the teacher wouldn’t let students run in it, so everyone was told to gather in the indoor gym. Today, no running.
After some simple warm-ups and a few standard tests, the PE teacher let everyone play freely and returned to the office.
Gu Qinghuan and Ming Xiaolan ran to grab badminton rackets, while Jiang Chuchu and Yu Xin went to reserve a court.
Ming Xiaolan was very popular during PE. She could play all kinds of ball games well, with excellent skill in receiving and feeding balls, and she would even give tips to her opponents. Playing with her was a pleasure.
However, Ming Xiaolan decided what game to play, and no one would force her otherwise.
For example, last PE class, she wanted to play table tennis, so Gu Qinghuan could only watch longingly as she went to the ping-pong tables.
This time, it was Ming Xiaolan’s turn to want badminton. Gu Qinghuan perked up immediately, grabbed the racket, and vowed to score double digits today.
Winning a set? Let’s be realistic—she had to know her limits.
Ming Xiaolan had her own racket; taking one was just to help Gu Qinghuan choose a good one.
Gu Qinghuan held the racket Ming Xiaolan picked out. It felt good in her hand, giving her even more confidence.
The four of them determined the play order with rock-paper-scissors. Each game was to 21 points; the first to reach 21 won. Losers would switch out, and after winning two consecutive games, the player would rotate out as well. The next player on court would handle scoring, and so on.
Gu Qinghuan went first—and immediately faced Ming Xiaolan.
She hoped to reach double digits, but her shot angles were off. The shuttlecock went out of bounds, and she only scored 8 points in the first game.
Still, 8 points was close to double digits, the minimum being 10. Gu Qinghuan felt she could hit 10 points later today!
The next game was Yu Xin versus Ming Xiaolan. Yu Xin played lightly and slowly but could last a long time.
Gu Qinghuan studied Ming Xiaolan’s movements when suddenly she heard a commotion at the gym door. She glanced over and saw a camera.
Which celebrity had arrived? Bai Qingyin, Le Yi, Lou Cheng—or the fourth person whose name she still didn’t know?
After a quick look, Gu Qinghuan saw someone surrounded in the middle—a male with gray-brown dyed hair, so it wasn’t Le Yi.
It seemed to be that “fourth person,” and she looked away.
Jiang Chuchu, not yet on court, also glanced over, and upon recognizing him, frowned with mild disdain.
“You know him?” Gu Qinghuan asked, curious.
“Yes. His name is Ye Weiyu. My mom saw him as a guest on a variety show once,” Jiang Chuchu whispered.
“My mom was watching TV while I was brushing the cat. I heard a male guest asking question after question, clearly clueless.”
“When asked to help with tasks, he either messed things up or couldn’t do them. I got so stressed listening, yet he apologized sincerely—it was so frustrating.”
“I later searched online, and everyone said things like ‘clumsy yet handsome’ or ‘acknowledges mistakes and corrects them,’ totally different from what I expected.”
Gu Haiyan usually didn’t watch variety shows, especially cooking ones.
She couldn’t understand why the artists in the show could make every cooking mistake imaginable, yet the dishes would still be praised.
Eventually, she concluded: they were acting, or the dishes served weren’t actually made by the artists. She simply stopped watching that type of show.
Gu Qinghuan comforted her: “Shows thrive on conflict to create interest. Maybe that’s just his persona, or he’s acting intentionally.”
Jiang Chuchu thought it over and decided she wasn’t interested. She had no intention of getting involved with Ye Weiyu.
Gu Qinghuan didn’t care either. Scoring ten points against Ming Xiaolan was more important.
Ye Weiyu leisurely circled the gym, pretending to check for students to invite, but in reality, he was looking for Gu Qinghuan.
He was anxious. Tang Huocai had tried to gather info, but the security guard in charge, though remembering the student existed, couldn’t describe her appearance clearly.
Tang Huocai couldn’t check the security footage, so she could only inquire about Class 3’s afternoon schedule and come to the scene directly.
Ye Weiyu assumed that any student noticed by both Bai Qingyin and Le Yi must stand out—if not beautiful on camera, at least distinctive.
However, counting through the 22 students in Class 3, he saw no one remarkable.
“Is this really Class 3?” Ye Weiyu grew impatient. “Did you ask about the wrong class?”
Tang Huocai pursed her lips. “It is Class 3. The security checked IDs. Besides Gu Qinghuan, there’s a boy named Xu Xinghe…”
“Do you know what Xu Xinghe looks like? If not, we can find him first and get Gu Qinghuan later,” Ye Weiyu said.
Tang Huocai remembered the guard’s description, identified a few boys who looked similar, and Ye Weiyu went to question them one by one.
The real Xu Xinghe, having finished the PE tests, gasped his way back to the class—after all, it was free activity time.
He thought, Heaven and Earth, if you gave me a good brain, why not give me athletic talent too?
Meanwhile, the boys of Class 3 in the gym were both excited and confused.
Many came from well-off families but weren’t in the entertainment industry like the Yan family, so facing a celebrity still made them nervous.
If chosen, during filming, they’d appear on TV with the artist—hence their excitement.
But what kind of student did this Ye Weiyu want to collaborate with?
He had already asked three people, but judging by the conversation, it seemed like he wasn’t really looking for teammates—more like doing a background check.
