What?! I Became the Zombie Beauty in the Villain’s Arms – CH26

Who Can Let Her Bite?

Chapter 26: Who Can Let Her Bite?

Pei Xiqing reacted instantly, shoving the man away and retreating several steps. Her eyes were sharp and vigilant. “Stay away from me.”

The man looked genuinely puzzled. “If you’re not dead, why didn’t you come find me? Why didn’t you tell me you were still alive?”

His confusion quickly morphed back into feverish excitement. “Xiqing! It’s me! Don’t you remember me? I’m your Brother Meng! You stayed with me for over a month at the beginning of the outbreak! During that time, I protected you every single day. You always swore that you would only ever love me in this life, that you would stay with me forever. Have you forgotten everything?!”

Pei Xiqing’s frown deepened as she listened to his frantic rambling.

In just a few sentences, she managed to piece together his identity from the chaotic fragments of the original owner’s memories.

Ah. This is one of the men the original owner hooked up with while she was on the run.

There were so many ambiguous, unnamed men strung along in the original owner’s past that Pei Xiqing honestly couldn’t immediately place which of the many disposable “meat shields” this guy was.

The area around the tents was relatively deserted. The rest of the squad was either in a tactical meeting or prepping dinner near the front of the camp. Ling Lang’s men were nowhere to be seen. She was currently the only one left in this section of the camp to pack up the gear.

This isolation made her deeply uneasy, especially since she had no idea what this clearly obsessed man might do if he became emotionally unstable.

She took another two steps back, but the man aggressively closed the distance, staring at her face with a burning, obsessive gaze. “Xiqing, I know you only left back then because you were angry with me. I was wrong. Please, forgive me. Come back with me, and I promise I’ll treat you well. We can go back to how we were before. We’ll never separate again.”

Pei Xiqing felt a wave of goosebumps erupt across her skin. She dug through her inherited memories for a long moment before finally speaking. “You are… Meng Jiankai?”

Meng Jiankai’s face lit up with a pleasantly surprised smile. “Yes! I knew you still remembered me! I’m your Brother Meng!”

Pei Xiqing let out a tired sigh.

Well, putting a name to the face makes things a lot easier.

Meng Jiankai was the very first “protective shield” the original owner had clung to.

At the very beginning of the apocalypse, the original owner hadn’t even graduated from college; she was just a popular, vain internet celebrity. When the world collapsed, she had absolutely no ability to defend herself. Fleeing in a panic from a building overrun by zombies, she had practically collided with Meng Jiankai, who had just awakened his superpowers.

Desperate for survival, the original owner had used her beauty to curry favor with him, pretending to be deeply affectionate. She stayed by his side for over a month.

However, the moment she realized Meng Jiankai’s abilities were vastly inferior to the captain of a rival survivor team, she abandoned him without a second of hesitation and immediately attached herself to the stronger man.

But Meng Jiankai was far from a saint himself. While the original owner was with him, he hypocritically placed her on a pedestal as his pure, untouchable “white moonlight,” while simultaneously using his newly awakened powers to indulge in gambling, drinking, and sleeping around. He had messed around with countless desperate women in the camp; his behavior was utterly appalling and filthy. Yet, here he was, having the absolute audacity to crawl back and demand her “true love” and devotion.

Regardless of the original owner’s manipulative intentions, she had actually dodged a massive bullet by not taking this man seriously as a lover. She had simply used him and thrown him away. If she had genuinely tethered herself to a hypocritical scumbag like Meng Jiankai, her bones would probably be rotting in a ditch somewhere by now.

Meng Jiankai continued to chatter away, spouting sickeningly sweet nonsense. “I promise you, I swear on my life! I had absolutely no real relationship with those other women back then. We were just talking! You know how brutal the early days of the apocalypse were, and superpowers were rare. There were so many girls who were just as pitiful and homeless as you… I was just helping them out! But you’ve always been the only one in my heart!”

Pei Xiqing sneered, violently shaking off the hand he reached out to touch her with. “Oh, I completely understand what you mean. It seems ‘Brother Meng’ just has a lot of little sisters and generously wanted to give all the homeless girls a warm bed to sleep in.”

Meng Jiankai froze. “??? No, Xiqing, that’s not what I meant…”

“You don’t need to explain yourself. We had nothing to do with each other the second you went out and started sleeping around,” she interrupted coldly. “If you genuinely cared about me, how could you have messed around with all of them?”

“But isn’t that why you kept saying you needed to test me?!” Meng Jiankai burst out defensively. “I was accepting your tests that entire time! Damn it, it’s been five years, and I’ve been looking for you every single day! Aren’t you done testing me yet?!”

“Testing you?”

“Didn’t you say it yourself?! You wanted to test my devotion! You promised that as long as I held back and didn’t touch you, you would eventually marry me!”

Pei Xiqing actually burst out laughing.

She genuinely didn’t know if this man was terminally stupid or just pathetically naive.

Even in the middle of the blood-soaked apocalypse, he’s still whining about getting married.

Those two words were an absolute joke in the wasteland.

“So, what is your answer?” Meng Jiankai demanded, staring at her face with an agonizing, breathless obsession. “It’s been five years. You’ve grown up so much. I remember when I first met you, you had barely just become an adult.”

Back then, she had been wearing heavy, trendy makeup, but it couldn’t hide her innate, devastating charm. He had fallen into a deranged lust at first sight. He never expected that after five brutal years of the apocalypse, Pei Xiqing would look even more breathtaking. Stripped of the heavy makeup, her natural, pure beauty was paralyzing. Once his eyes locked onto her, he physically couldn’t look away.

Earlier, he had heard a squadmate mention there was a stunningly beautiful woman near the G-Class, but he hadn’t believed it. Who could have guessed it was the very woman he had been obsessing over in his dreams?

Pei Xiqing’s reaction was ice-cold. “Right. Well, I still have work to do. I’ll be leaving now.”

Meng Jiankai aggressively sidestepped, blocking her path. “I am now the Deputy Captain of Squad A121243. A massive zombie siege is about to hit this city. It is going to be a bloodbath. You can’t even…”

He looked Pei Xiqing up and down, noting her lack of tactical gear. “You haven’t even awakened a superpower yet, have you? You cannot survive what’s coming. If you’re smart, you’ll come back to me right now. I can guarantee you survive this horde under the protection of my squad.”

He shifted his expression into what he likely thought was a sincere, pleading look. “Xiqing, I know you want to say yes, right? All you have to do is nod. Our team is one of the strongest from the base…”

Pei Xiqing cut him off mid-sentence. “I am a zombie.”

Meng Jiankai choked on his words, staring at her blankly. “…What did you just say?!”

Pei Xiqing flashed him a bizarre, chilling smile. As her lips parted, two distinct, unnaturally sharp fangs gleamed in the dim light. “I said, I want to bite someone. Since you love me so much, you should be more than willing to let me bite you, right?”

“AH!”

Meng Jiankai stumbled backward, his eyes locking onto the venomous, pale green veins suddenly pulsing visibly beneath the skin of her neck. He let out a terrified shriek, his legs giving out as he collapsed onto the dirt. Pointing at her with violently trembling hands, he scrambled backward. The moment Pei Xiqing took a step forward and opened her mouth, he scrambled to his feet and sprinted away as fast as he could.

Pei Xiqing watched him flee, the corners of her lips twitching in utter boredom.

What a pathetic coward. He ran away just because he got a little spooked.

But the reality of her physical state was becoming a serious problem.

She reached up, accidentally nicking her own lip, and carefully felt the pointed, razor-sharp fangs resting against her bottom lip.

When exactly did these grow in?

Simultaneously, the horrific viral mutations within her body surged again. Her breathing grew heavy and labored. Violent hot and cold flashes wracked her system, and a deep, agonizing itch settled into the roots of her teeth.

The primal, overwhelming urge to bite human flesh was growing stronger and stronger by the minute.

But honestly… who in their right mind could actually let her bite them?

While the male and female leads were sweetly punishing s*um in the apocalypse, she was one of the s*um being punished. At the start, she was abandoned by the protagonist squad; in the end, she became a mindless, clawing zombie with no intact skin, finally dying under the guns of the male and female leads. The damage was done, so Pei Xiqing chose to give up. Rather than being timid and submissive, she might as well join the zombie ranks. Everyone thought Pei Xiqing’s death was satisfying, and even wanted to see her ugly, pus-covered zombie face begging for mercy. Until one day, the zombie outbreak exploded again in the apocalypse. The protagonist squad kept losing ground, miserable and struggling, while a beautiful zombie leisurely took selfies in the zombie horde. Just as the male and female leads were pushed to a desperate corner by the zombies and tried to fight their way out, the beautiful, delicate zombie next to them was calmly packing up, ready to flee. Who would’ve thought that the famously cold and ruthless Chief Arbiter—who was known for showing no mercy to zombies—would suddenly hold that pretty zombie in his arms and carry her away. “Baby, caught you.”
