Chapter 285: High-Tech Everywhere
Tom is back!
Happy!
Fang Xiaocao felt so happy she could almost fly.
The fear of being surrounded by the monsters faded away.
Hummingbird, who was protecting Fang Xiaocao, also revealed a rare smile upon seeing Tom appear.
Before, she had to protect Fang Xiaocao alone, which felt a bit overwhelming.
These sneaky monkeys might not look big or intimidating, but after actually fighting them, she realized just how troublesome they were.
These monkeys were incredibly fast and worked together as a team.
At the very beginning of the fight, Hummingbird was nearly caught.
Luckily, she was also skilled in speed and barely managed to dodge the monkey’s claws.
She even took the opportunity to fire a shot, killing one monkey and momentarily intimidating the rest.
If that shot had missed, things would have turned out very differently.
Both Fang Xiaocao and Hummingbird would have been torn apart by these vicious monkeys.
Now that the monkeys were all focused on Tom and Taotie, Hummingbird sighed in relief.
She stood guard over Fang Xiaocao, gripping a gun in one hand and a dagger in the other, watching the fight with a grin, enjoying the show.
These sneaky monkeys were no joke.
They were unbelievably clever and incredibly agile.
If it weren’t for Tom and Taotie using their two-meter-long spears to keep the monkeys at bay, they would have been badly scratched up by now.
Even so, Taotie still got injured.
His arms and legs had several bloody scratches from the monkeys’ claws.
The deeper wounds were bleeding profusely.
Furious, Taotie jumped around and roared like a wild beast, looking just like a raging Zhang Fei from ancient battles.
“Arghhh!”
“Die, you damn monkeys!”
Taotie roared as he swung his spear furiously, smashing a monkey against the stone wall with a loud crack, breaking its bones.
The monkey slid down the wall, twitching and coughing up blood, then stopped moving—dead.
But while Taotie killed one monkey, a dozen more were still left.
Seeing their fallen comrade, the remaining monkeys didn’t retreat.
Instead, they screeched, baring their fangs and claws as they pounced at Taotie all at once.
A full-on assault!
Their wild, bloodthirsty instincts drove them into a frenzy.
Even if they died, they were determined to take a bite out of Taotie.
Watching a dozen monkeys charge at him, Taotie started to panic.
Luckily, Tom was right beside him.
Just as things got out of hand, Tom quickly stabbed his spear from the side, skewering a monkey mid-air like a kebab.
“Attack!”
Tom shouted to Taotie.
Taotie nodded and grinned.
“Kill these damn monkeys!”
With Tom and Taotie working together seamlessly, these monkeys were no longer a threat.
In a matter of minutes, the two of them slaughtered the entire group of sneaky monkeys.
One by one, they were either crushed or impaled.
Finally, Taotie grabbed the last monkey by the throat and slammed it against the stone wall.
Its skull shattered with a sickening crack, blood splattering everywhere.
“Bleh!”
Taotie spat on the ground and tossed the corpse aside.
“Your Highness, are you alright?”
Tom walked over to Fang Xiaocao, concerned.
“I’m fine! Thank goodness you came in time!”
Fang Xiaocao grinned from ear to ear.
Seeing Tom return safely, her mood improved drastically.
Her eyes scanned Tom from head to toe.
Though his clothes were stained with blood, it was all from the monkeys—Tom himself was completely unharmed.
Feeling relieved, Fang Xiaocao turned her attention to Taotie.
Seeing the scratches all over his arms and legs, her heart clenched.
Taotie was injured!
These sneaky monkeys looked disgusting—what if they carried some kind of disease?
If Taotie got infected, it would be a huge problem.
After all, they were deep inside a tomb, buried god-knows-how-many meters underground.
If Taotie got sick, there would be no way to get him medical treatment in time.
He would be as good as dead.
“Quick, quick, quick!”
“We need to treat Taotie’s wounds immediately!”
Fang Xiaocao exclaimed, rushing to his side.
“Taotie, stay still.”
“Let Hummingbird clean your wounds.”
She instructed.
“I’m fine!”
Taotie grinned, acting tough.
Fang Xiaocao rolled her eyes.
“Stop pretending! These monkeys are filthy! Who knows what kind of bacteria or viruses they have?”
“You don’t want your body covered in nasty red sores, rotting and oozing pus, do you?”
“Uh…”
Hearing this, Taotie froze.
He glanced at the monkey corpses, then at his own wounds, shuddering at the thought.
He shook his head so fast it nearly became a blur.
“No way!”
“I don’t wanna end up like that!”
Taotie instantly behaved.
Fang Xiaocao nodded in satisfaction.
She had figured out how to handle Taotie—scare him into obedience.
Otherwise, he’d just argue back stubbornly.
Hummingbird and Tom joined them.
Tom inspected Taotie’s wounds before stepping aside.
“Go ahead and clean him up,” he told Hummingbird.
Then he turned to Fang Xiaocao.
“Your Highness, hand me your backpack.”
“Huh?”
“Why do you need it?”
Fang Xiaocao asked, puzzled.
“There’s a small thermal container inside.”
“It holds tetanus vaccines.”
Tom explained with a smile.
“…Huh???”
Fang Xiaocao blinked in surprise.
She had no idea her backpack contained something like that!
Without hesitation, she removed her backpack and handed it to Tom.
Tom unzipped it, swiftly pulling out a small, pencil-case-sized box that emitted a faint humming sound.
Seeing the device, Fang Xiaocao was stunned.
“What’s that?”
She asked, curious.
“A mini refrigerator and thermal container.”
“It has a built-in high-tech battery that keeps it running for three days, ensuring the vaccines inside stay fresh.”
Tom explained with a grin.
Fang Xiaocao blinked before giving him a thumbs up.
“Awesome!”
