Chapter 257: Manipulation
Xu Youyou looked at the naive and impulsive expression on the other person’s face and couldn’t help but laugh.
“Miss Becker, I’m willing to compensate you, first because I like your house, and second because we Chinese people value integrity in our dealings, and we’re not short of money. We want to do business properly,” Xu Youyou said.
After hearing the translator’s words, Becker continued to question, “Since you Chinese have money, why are you reluctant to spend this amount to buy the house? Didn’t you say you liked it?”
Xu Youyou replied, “I like it, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to be a fool and let you take advantage of me. If you’re not sincere about negotiating the price, then forget it. I will look for other castles I like in Germany or even other parts of Europe.”
Xu Youyou made a point of showing that she was genuinely interested in the castle, not just in Becker’s house, which thoroughly confused the other party.
Becker no longer dared to raise the price. “Let’s sit down and negotiate again. I am willing to offer a fair price.”
Just as she finished speaking, the lawyer behind her said, “Becker, trust my judgment. There must be something valuable hidden in this house. We can raise the price a bit, and this Chinese person will definitely pay.”
Xu Youyou lowered her gaze, careful not to reveal her true thoughts. She didn’t expect the male lawyer to actually have some sense.
It quickly occurred to her that it was probably her overly eager attitude and the excessively high compensation that gave the lawyer the confidence to make such bold demands.
The more this happened, the calmer Xu Youyou became. She even said to the German translator, “Tell them that since they’re not sincere about doing business with me, let’s forget it. We’ll leave tomorrow.”
The German translator relayed the message to Miss Becker, who immediately became frantic, almost jumping up. “Miss Xu, I came back specifically for this matter! I’m willing to negotiate a fair price, really. Please, give me another chance.”
Xu Youyou suppressed the urge to agree right away and maintained an aloof expression, refusing to even glance at Becker.
Meanwhile, the white lawyer was still trying to stop Miss Becker. “We have this kind of relationship, and I won’t deceive you. She’s the one deceiving you. With her big budget, she’ll definitely pay the exorbitant price…”
Miss Becker wanted to believe the lawyer, but Xu Youyou had already turned and left, not showing the slightest bit of hesitation.
“Don’t stop me. I know better than anyone how hard it is to sell this castle. Finally, we have a Chinese person who could buy it, and you’re ruining it for me!” Miss Becker angrily reprimanded the male lawyer.
When the lawyer saw that he couldn’t change her mind, he finally lost his patience and cursed, “You fool, you’ll miss the opportunity to make big money because of your shortsightedness!”
After the lawyer left, Miss Becker immediately chased after Xu Youyou, heading to the most luxurious hotel in the small town.
She felt incredibly lucky to have found Xu Youyou at the hotel’s first floor, negotiating with the front desk.
“Hello, could you please help me? I want to see Miss Xu. I’m willing to sell the house to her, and the price is negotiable,” Miss Becker said, gesturing while even translating it into Chinese on her phone for Xu Fang to read.
Xu Fang couldn’t help but marvel at Xu Youyou’s brilliant strategy.
After returning to the hotel, Xu Youyou immediately instructed Xu Fang to wait at the front desk on the first floor, pretending to be about to check out, all to ensure that Miss Becker would be “coincidentally” led to her.
Xu Fang feigned difficulty and explained, “Miss Becker, our boss is actually the easiest person to work with. She is generous and not short of money. There’s no better buyer than her. If she wasn’t genuinely fond of your castle, she wouldn’t be so eager to make a deal with you. You’ve truly hurt her feelings this time.”
Miss Becker’s face revealed a trace of shame. As soon as she saw Xu Youyou, before even starting the negotiations, Xu Youyou had already covered her flight and travel compensation.
To be honest, this castle had completely fallen into her hands. There had been someone offering one hundred thousand euros before, and she had been very tempted. If that person hadn’t pulled out after hearing rumors about the house being haunted, Xu Youyou might not have been the one negotiating today.
“It’s all my fault. I was deceived by my partner. I hope Miss Xu will give me another chance, considering I flew back from Hawaii so quickly. I really want to do business with you. Please, I beg you,” Miss Becker pleaded with Xu Fang.
Xu Fang sighed, pretending to be troubled. “You’ve asked so sincerely. I can’t really refuse. After all, there’s a saying that ‘girl helps girl.’ We should help each other as women.”
Miss Becker’s eyes brightened, and she immediately grabbed Xu Fang’s hand. “Thank you so much!”
Xu Youyou wasn’t surprised by Becker’s urgency. With no one to interfere now, she could easily manipulate Miss Becker.
Xu Youyou didn’t haggle much over the price, and they settled on seven hundred thousand euros.
Though this wasn’t considered a high price in places like Munich or London, it was a very high price for this small town.
Miss Becker was more than satisfied with this price.
However, Xu Youyou’s manipulation came in the form of setting a strict deadline. She told Becker that if the deal wasn’t finalized within three days, she would walk away.
Miss Becker, being a local, used all her connections to get the property transfer completed in the shortest time possible.
Finally, Xu Youyou was able to enter the castle as its new owner. But after thoroughly searching through it, she found no hidden chambers, nor any antiques with Chinese markings.
“I’m where? On the lawn?” The gentle voice answered weakly.
