I Am a Landlady in the Apocalypse – CH440

Extra Story 6

Chapter 440: Extra Story 6

Even Luo Yan felt his heart leap into his throat.

The doctor set down the report and waved his hand:

“No, no, Mrs. Luo’s body is fine. In fact, she’s much healthier than before… Hmm, if you want to have children, you can start trying now. There’s no longer any risk.”

Wen Man and Luo Yan stood frozen in place.

After a long moment, Luo Yan grabbed the doctor’s arm, his voice trembling with excitement:

“Are you sure there’s no risk at all? Didn’t you say before that even if she managed to conceive, her body would naturally miscarry?”

The doctor patted his hand reassuringly. “Mr. Luo, please calm down. I did say that before, but today’s examination shows that your wife can safely try to conceive. Her health is excellent, and the chances of a miscarriage are extremely low.”

Wen Man immediately burst into tears, clutching Su Tao’s hand tightly:

“Tao, did you hear that? Did you hear? He said I can have a baby—”

Crying, she collapsed into Su Tao’s arms.

Su Tao gently stroked her back, smiling with satisfaction and relief:

“I heard it loud and clear—our Manman can become a mom!”

“Did you give Wen Man something special to take?”

On the road away from Qian’an, Shi Zijin suddenly asked.

Su Tao rested her chin on her hand, gazing out the window. Without hiding anything, she admitted:

“Yes, I gave her something miraculous—just like how I can miraculously make these skyscrapers rise from the ground.”

The warm sunlight spilled through the window, highlighting the fine downy hairs on her smooth skin.

Shi Zijin couldn’t resist inching closer, shamelessly trying to cuddle up to her.

Su Tao immediately scooted away and kicked him: “No messing around—you don’t have the title yet.”

Shi Zijin rubbed his nose sheepishly. “When will I get the title?”

“That depends on my mood. You up and left me before, risking your life without a second thought, making me worry for so long—you need to atone for that.”

Shi Zijin chuckled: “Fine, fine—I’ll atone.”

He crossed his wrists like a prisoner. “Quick, lock me up and take me away.”

Su Tao glared at him. “Have you been sneaking romance novels behind my back? Are TV dramas not enough for you anymore?”

Shi Zijin shook his head dramatically: “What? No idea what you’re talking about.”

Su Tao lunged to grab his communicator. “Hand it over—I’m checking your messages!”

Shi Zijin held it away from her, twisting and turning to keep it out of reach.

In the scuffle, Su Tao’s hand slipped somewhere it shouldn’t have…

Shi Zijin’s gaze darkened. Without another word, he scooped her up—only to drop her onto the couch and dash into the tiny RV bathroom to cool off.

Stunned, Su Tao blushed furiously before diving under the covers, rolling around in embarrassment.

Men are impossible to tease.

And being alone together in a tiny, rocking RV—especially with only the driver for company—makes self-control even harder.

After countless heated moments, Su Tao decided to turn the tables.

Whenever Shi Zijin got too clingy, she’d playfully tease his Adam’s apple, brush her bare foot against his calf, or blow warm breaths on his neck.

Without fail, he would retreat to calm himself down.

By the time they reached Xindu, Su Tao was glowing with energy while Shi Zijin looked utterly exhausted, casting her increasingly pitiful looks.

Zhuo Ercheng had prepared a grand reception banquet in advance, serving only the best food and wine.

Under Zhuo Ercheng’s leadership—and with Taoyang and Changjing’s support—Xindu had developed rapidly, far outpacing other bases.

This growth was largely due to Zhuo Ercheng’s early decision to ally with Taoyang. With so many bases to help, Taoyang could only prioritize those with strong relationships.

As for Ling Tianji, he had retired six months ago.

He’d come to realize that no amount of power was worth more than a peaceful, comfortable life. The future belonged to the younger generation.

Still, he made a point to attend Su Tao’s welcome banquet, pulling Shi Zijin aside for a private conversation filled with apologies and confessions.

After all, Shi Zijin had once been a close comrade-in-arms. Seeing him and Su Tao so deeply connected now, Ling Tianji felt guilty for how Xindu had treated Taoyang in the past.

Shi Zijin didn’t accept the apology—he couldn’t forgive on Su Tao’s behalf.

Understanding this, Ling Tianji sighed, raised a glass to Su Tao, and downed it in one go:

“Boss Su, I apologize for everything in the past. I hope you can forgive me.”

To his surprise, Su Tao just smiled lightly:

“I never held a grudge. It’s all in the past.”

Zhuo Ercheng chimed in: “Boss Su is truly generous—another toast to you!”

The banquet ended on a lively note, and Zhuo Ercheng personally escorted Su Tao and Shi Zijin to their guesthouse.

On the way, Su Tao suddenly remembered something:

“What happened to that girlfriend of yours—the one named Deng?”

Zhuo Ercheng froze for a moment before recalling a girlfriend from a year ago:

“Why do you ask? We broke up ages ago. After her mother and sister had some accident, she demanded a hefty breakup fee and disappeared.”

His only memory of Deng Zilu was how much money she had taken when they split.

Over the past year, he’d dated several others—Deng Zilu was ancient history.

Su Tao pressed further: “What kind of accident?”

Zhuo Ercheng shrugged. “I don’t remember exactly. She mentioned delivering a puppet doll to the Chu family’s eldest daughter. After that, her family faced some kind of home invasion or kidnapping—they were killed. Too long ago to recall the details.”

Su Tao fell silent, her thoughts drifting far away.

She remembered that mother and daughter—Deng Zilu’s family—had once ambushed her car during the Alliance Summit, nearly causing a disastrous accident.

Later, Deng Zilu had conspired with Chu Yue to force Su Tao into a humiliating trap.

It seemed the cursed puppet had not only destroyed Chu Yue but also brought ruin to Deng Zilu’s family.

A chill ran down Su Tao’s spine.

Thank goodness the crystal core containing the puppet’s curse had vanished—anyone who touched it was doomed.

The next day, Su Tao and Shi Zijin explored Xindu.

The city’s rapid development had even led to the construction of an amusement park.

Su Tao wanted to visit, so Zhuo Ercheng personally led a team of high-ranking officials to accompany her.

Shi Zijin was less than thrilled—what was supposed to be a romantic day had turned into a parade.

Just then, a familiar, shocked voice rang out:

“Ercheng? Su Tao?!”

It was Jiang Jinwei.

Compared to her former glamorous self, she now looked ten years older, clutching her daughter Tangdou’s hand while holding a baby boy in her arms.
