Chapter 439: Extra Story 5
When Su Tao saw that comment, she immediately thought of Wen Man holding other people’s children with an envious expression.
She let out a breath and continued scrolling through the reviews. She discovered that disabled people also used this type of medicine, and the number of buyers was surprisingly high.
But these comments gave her a strange feeling—
It seemed as if these buyers weren’t from her world…
For example, one buyer mentioned purchasing the medicine for their deaf mother because doctors in their time couldn’t cure her.
Another said they bought it to repair a torn ligament before participating in a mecha competition in a few days.
Someone else mentioned that this potion was cost-effective because, in their world, they would need to hire a healing mage, which was both expensive and time-consuming.
*
Comments like these left Su Tao utterly stunned.
She seemed to understand something—after leveling up to Lv9, the system had opened a door for her. This door connected to countless different timelines and worlds, each with hosts similar to herself.
However, they couldn’t communicate directly. They could only interact through the system’s products and reviews.
It was all too fantastical…
After musing for a while, Su Tao refocused on the repair potion. It wasn’t cheap—1,400 crystal cores with an additional 3,000 cores in technology tax.
Luckily, over the past year, the Independent Corps’ relentless zombie-clearing missions had provided Taoyang with a massive supply of crystal cores. After accounting for regular expenses, she still had over 30,000 cores available.
Originally, she planned to use the cores to expand more land and speed up the reconstruction of the Federation.
However, the President advised her to only handle the basic transportation infrastructure. He believed the people who had survived the apocalypse should rebuild society themselves, brick by brick.
Su Tao agreed—it wouldn’t be good for humanity to rely too much on the system. So, after completing the basic infrastructure, she decided to take things easy.
That decision left her with a substantial reserve of 30,000 crystal cores—perfect for her current needs.
Without hesitation, she paid 4,400 crystal cores. The next moment, a blue-green potion bottle appeared in her hand.
A detailed instruction manual was attached.
After reading through it carefully, she confirmed that Wen Man’s condition wasn’t too severe—half a bottle would be enough.
With the potion secured, Su Tao decided that her next stop would be the Qian’an Base to visit Wen Man—and check in on little Qilin too!
The pink RV hit the road again.
Since the large-scale zombie extermination, the chaotic climate seemed to be returning to normal.
It was now late May to early June—the weather was pleasant. With the RV windows open, cool breezes swept through the cabin.
The once-barren landscapes, which a year ago were littered with white bones, were now covered with wild vegetables and ferns sprouting from the earth.
This resurgence of greenery was largely thanks to Wu Zhen. Over the past year, he had led his team across the nation, solving food production issues and initiating large-scale reforestation projects. His goal: to restore the country’s lush landscapes from north to south.
He was full of passion and dedication.
His only headache? The persistent young woman chasing after him.
No matter where he went—whether across deserts or over dried riverbeds—she followed him everywhere.
Wu Zhen was exasperated. He tried to push her away but still couldn’t help but take care of her.
When Su Tao recalled this, she couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
Hearing her laugh, Shi Zijin immediately leaned in. “What’s so funny? Share it with me!”
Su Tao didn’t dare answer him. She had grown wary of how clingy he was. If she gave him even the slightest excuse to stay close, he would seize it and refuse to leave.
If she said a single word to him, he would beam with joy for the rest of the day.
When they arrived at the Qian’an Base, Wen Man was already waiting anxiously by the entrance.
As soon as she spotted the pink RV, she shoved little Qilin into Luo Yan’s arms and sprinted over.
Su Tao hadn’t seen her for over six months—she had been far too busy balancing work and more work.
Luo Yan, meanwhile, noticed Shi Zijin stepping out of the RV and felt a sudden wave of nostalgia. He walked over and clapped a hand on Shi Zijin’s shoulder.
“Long time no see, brother.”
Back during the apocalypse, Luo Yan and Shi Zijin had fought zombies side by side as part of the Pioneer Army. Their bond was forged in blood and battle.
Now, with the apocalypse over, the once-fearsome Major Shi spent his days shamelessly chasing after his woman.
Luo Yan shook his head internally.
Men—once they fall in love, they all become soft.
He especially related to Shi Zijin’s silence whenever Su Tao showed the slightest sign of displeasure.
After dinner and a few drinks, Luo Yan draped an arm around Shi Zijin’s neck and pulled him aside for a heart-to-heart:
“Brother, being a man isn’t easy… not easy at all.”
Shi Zijin raised his glass and clinked it against Luo Yan’s. “Not easy.”
Especially when he was still in the pursuit phase—Su Tao hadn’t officially accepted him yet. At least Luo Yan was already married.
Perhaps it was the alcohol, or maybe it was finding a kindred spirit, but Luo Yan began to spill his grievances:
“I have no authority at home, brother. My wife is always fussing over little Qilin while criticizing me for everything. Last time, I accidentally ate a cat treat thinking it was a snack, and instead of worrying about my stomach, she scolded me for not leaving any for the cat.”
He downed another glass, ready to launch into another rant, but Shi Zijin cut him off with a serious expression:
“You should consider getting a vasectomy reversal.”
Luo Yan nearly choked on his drink. “Why do you care about that?”
Awkward.
Shi Zijin was following orders—no matter how awkward, the task had to be done.
“Don’t you want more kids?”
Luo Yan scratched his head. “It’s not like I can’t afford them. If Manman’s health were better, I’d want two more—preferably daughters. I’d spoil them rotten. But compared to her health… it’s not worth the risk. I’ve already been blessed with so much—I can’t expect everything.”
He had already won at life—marrying his dream girl and gaining a powerful system. What more could he ask for?
Shi Zijin hesitated before saying, “What if there’s a chance? Find a doctor and get her checked again.”
The next day, with Shi Zijin’s words echoing in his mind, Luo Yan arranged for a check-up.
His family doctor, who had been treating Wen Man for years, thoroughly examined her. As he reviewed the results, his expression shifted from surprise to confusion.
Wen Man, growing anxious, gripped Luo Yan’s hand. “What is it? Is something wrong with me again?”
It didn’t make sense—she had been feeling better than ever lately.
In fact, ever since Su Tao’s arrival, she felt unusually energetic—like she had become a few years younger.
