Chapter 415: Cut Off His Water, Electricity, and Internet
Su Tao didn’t know what trump card Zhou Yushan had.
This man had many secrets and a complicated past. Since he didn’t speak of them, Su Tao didn’t ask.
If Zhou Yushan could make Dang Weiran leave voluntarily, that would be the best outcome. If not, she would handle it herself. And if things got too big, she still had the “get out of jail free” cards—President and Minister Xu.
For the first time, Su Tao felt how nice it was to have powerful people backing her up. It made her stand a little taller.
The next morning, Dang Weiran’s deputy commander came to Su Tao, asking to collect the batch of weapons from Changjing for the soldiers’ practical training.
Su Tao approved it without hesitation but played it smart—she only gave them the weapons from Changjing. She didn’t mention a word about the energy guns from Granny Yu.
The deputy commander, seeing the weapon list, left with a pleased expression.
Before the morning training, Dang Weiran gathered all officers at the rank of battalion commander and above for a meeting.
On the conference table lay three energy guns.
Everyone’s eyes burned with desire as they stared at the weapons.
The deputy commander couldn’t help but keep glancing at them, practically wishing he could burn a hole through them and hang them around his neck. In Changjing, someone of his low rank would never have the chance to be equipped with an energy gun.
He hadn’t expected the President to be so generous toward Taoyang—sending three guns all at once.
Even Dang Weiran couldn’t help but glance at them a few more times.
He already had one, but who would say no to more?
As the current regimental commander, he had the absolute authority to distribute these three guns.
The other officers held their breath, their hearts pounding.
There were eight people present, all holding high-ranking positions.
But there were only three guns.
Too many monks, too little porridge.
If they didn’t get one today, they might never get another chance.
The tension in the meeting room became palpable. Two of Dang Weiran’s loyal lackeys were practically wagging their tails, ready to fawn over him if it meant getting their hands on a gun.
Dang Weiran swept a cold gaze around the room and began to speak:
“The incident in the mess hall—who started it? If none of you admit it, I’ll give these three energy guns to the squad leaders instead. Whoever confesses or points out the culprit…”
Before he could finish, his two lackeys immediately pointed to a man:
“It was Tao Jun! Commander, we wanted to report it to you earlier, but they all banded together—”
Before they could finish tattling, another officer stood up and declared:
“It wasn’t just Tao Jun’s idea—I was involved too!”
“Me too!”
“Count me in!”
One after another, officers began stepping forward.
As much as they craved the energy guns, their conscience wouldn’t let them throw a comrade under the bus.
Tao Jun, the battalion commander, coldly tossed his military cap onto the table and walked out without a word.
Disgusting.
One by one, the other battalion commanders and staff officers followed suit.
Even the deputy commander bowed and excused himself.
Only Dang Weiran’s two lackeys remained.
Outwardly, they appeared indignant. Inwardly, they were thrilled—good riddance to the competition.
Dang Weiran smirked and glanced at them. “Want one?”
They nodded eagerly, hope gleaming in their eyes.
Without warning, Dang Weiran grabbed the three guns and stuffed them into his own bag.
“When did I ever say I was giving them out?”
With that, he turned and left.
The two lackeys stood there in stunned silence.
While the officers were busy playing power games, the regular soldiers had no idea what had happened in the meeting room.
During morning training, everyone received new weapons, and for the first time in days, genuine smiles broke out on their faces.
The squad leaders, recognizing the advanced Changjing models, couldn’t put them down.
One young soldier exclaimed, “The President really values Taoyang! He’s giving us the best of everything.”
But after that, he sighed. “It’d be even better if we didn’t have Commander Dang.”
His squad leader clapped him on the shoulder and whispered, “During the break, sneak a few energy bars to our brothers over there. Be careful.”
The young soldier immediately perked up and nodded seriously.
At the break, he gathered a few comrades and led them to the restroom.
Inside a stall, ignoring the overpowering smell, he pulled out a handful of energy bars and distributed them.
“Eat them here, and flush the wrappers,” he instructed in a low voice.
His comrades, shocked and trembling, hesitated. “Where did you get these?”
He explained quietly, “Boss Su secretly gave them to us—don’t let Commander Dang find out and cause trouble for her.”
If Su Tao knew this, she would’ve choked—they had completely misunderstood her intentions.
Hearing that it was from Su Tao, their eyes lit up. Without hesitation, they gobbled the bars down.
Over the next two days, the young soldier made sure every member of their squad got a taste of the energy bars.
The difference was noticeable—spirits lifted, and smiles became more common.
One evening, as Su Tao was leaving her office, she found a large paper ball at her feet.
Curious, she picked it up and unwrapped it—inside was a delicate origami crane made from energy bar wrappers.
For a moment, she stood there, stunned. Warmth spread through her chest.
These big, rough men… folding something so delicate.
Half amused and half touched, she took the crane back to her office and hung it beside her desk. The colorful paper brightened the space.
Later that night, Zhuang Wan called to report that she had scheduled a meeting with Dang Weiran for the next day at 1 p.m.
But she couldn’t help swearing:
“Boss, he said if you were the one coming to talk, he wouldn’t bother showing up—what a jerk!”
Zhuang Wan was livid. If Meng Qian and Zhong Gaoyi hadn’t held her back, she would’ve stormed into the base herself.
Su Tao was angry too—but more than that, she was surprised. Did he really think so little of her?
Was he relying on something? Or was he just an arrogant old man who didn’t know his place?
Fine, if he wanted to play dirty, so could she.
“Cut off the water, electricity, and internet in his quarters,” Su Tao ordered coldly. “And deliver an energy gun to each battalion commander and staff officer—except him. Let them know there’s no shortage of energy cores.”
“And tell Commander Dang to return those three guns he stole. If he doesn’t, we’ll report him to Changjing for theft of state-owned weapons.”
