Chapter 337: Poisoned by Taoyang
Jiang Yu trembled slightly, lips quivering but said nothing.
Su Tao comforted him, “Taoyang isn’t far from here. Besides, with Ling Yu and Black Sesame around, there won’t be any danger. Just go, don’t worry.”
Jiang Yu’s eyes turned slightly red. “Boss Su, after this, I will always be your shadow and never leave your side again.”
Su Tao smiled, “Alright, go ahead, my shadow partner.”
Jiang Yu only brought Nie Sibo along to help. In the trunk of the car, the woman was still locked inside as they headed toward the burial site of Jiang Tong.
Even if it was just a corpse, he needed to see her one last time. He would cremate her and take her home—so they, as siblings, would never be separated again.
As soon as Jiang Yu left, Song Yuebing also proposed to part ways.
Failing to buy a cat had left him quite dejected. He looked at Su Tao, though his gaze seemed to pierce through her, fixated on the little flame-colored kitten.
“Boss Su, I should rejoin my team now. This is where we part ways. If there’s a chance in the future, I’ll visit Taoyang again. Farewell.”
But just as he turned to leave, he turned back almost immediately. “Boss Su, let me see the Flame kitten one more time. I can’t have it, but surely I can at least look at it, right?”
Without a word, Su Tao led him to the RV and let him stand by the door.
Chili Pepper was lying down, nursing the kitten.
Thanks to the improved diet, Chili Pepper now had plenty of milk. Feeding just one kitten made the little one plump and round.
Song Yuebing stared in fascination for a while before finally pulling out his communicator to snap a few pictures.
After taking the photos, he sheepishly asked Su Tao, “Can I keep a few as mementos? I may never see another flame-colored kitten like this in my life.”
Su Tao glanced at him. “You’ve already taken the photos, and now you’re asking for permission? What if I ask you to delete them—would you?”
Thick-skinned as ever, Song Yuebing refused to delete them. He laughed it off and left, feeling quite satisfied.
However, not long after he left, he composed an email:
“Mrs. Wen, during my trip south for the Alliance Summit, I had the rare fortune to encounter an exceptionally unique flame-colored kitten. Attached are photos of it with its mother. It is less than a month old now, but in three months, its fur will grow longer and denser. If nothing goes wrong, its tail will develop into a gradient gold, resembling a flame.
Additionally, its ears are a light golden color, as if adorned with a headband, and its nose has a hint of gold, like blush. With my years of experience, I can confidently say there is no other cat with this coloration.
However, the kitten’s current owner is unwilling to sell. If you are truly interested, I can arrange for you to see it in person, and perhaps we can work together to persuade the owner.”

At the Qian’an Base, Wen Man stood up immediately upon reading the email.
Her eyes sparkled as she repeatedly examined the pictures.
When she got married, her husband gave her a puppy. Unfortunately, after just six months, they discovered the puppy had a severe genetic illness. Despite seeking treatment everywhere, nothing helped.
During its worst episodes, the puppy would collapse and scream in pain while Wen Man knelt beside it, crying as she comforted it.
In the end, the puppy still passed away.
Wen Man had lived a smooth and privileged life—cherished by her family before marriage and adored by her husband after. She had never experienced any hardship or loss until the puppy died, which devastated her.
For two years, she couldn’t even look at other people’s dogs without breaking down in tears.
Only recently had she started to recover, and with her husband’s encouragement, she began to consider getting a kitten instead.
She no longer dared to have another dog—the pain was too much.
But Wen Man had very high standards for pets. Despite searching for a long time, she hadn’t found one she liked.
The moment she saw the kitten in the email, she felt an immediate connection and eagerly rushed to share it with her husband.
Luo Yan didn’t care much about the cat itself—as long as his wife was happy, that was enough for him.
“If you want it, I’ll send someone to bring it back for you. No need for you to go yourself—it’s dangerous out there,” he said.
Wen Man frowned and pointed at the email.
“The team leader already said the owner won’t sell it. I need to go personally to show my sincerity. Sending someone else would feel like robbing them—that’s disgraceful!”
Luo Yan replied calmly, “Won’t sell? Maybe the price just isn’t high enough. Ask Team Leader Song how much they want.”
Wen Man pouted.
At just twenty years old, she still had an innocent, youthful charm. Every emotion was written plainly on her face.
Seeing her like this, Luo Yan softened.
“Fine. I’ll make time to go with you. But I still think we should offer a price first—if money can solve the problem, there’s no need for all this effort.”
Wen Man reluctantly agreed.
When Song Yuebing received the reply, asking him to inquire about the kitten’s price, cold sweat broke out on his forehead.
There was no way he dared to ask Su Tao that—she’d probably smack him over the head with a shovel.
He immediately wrote back, saying:
“The current owner isn’t concerned about money. They just want to find a trustworthy home for the kitten.”
Wen Man showed the reply to her husband.
“See? Not everyone is obsessed with money like you. Anyway, it’s settled—you have to make time to take me to Taoyang within the next two months.”
Luo Yan frowned. “Taoyang? Never heard of it. Where is it?”
Wen Man shook her head, carefree as ever. “I don’t know. You figure it out—I just know I’m going.”
With no other choice, Luo Yan made a note to investigate Taoyang. He suspected the locals were just playing hard to get, waiting to fleece them once they arrived.
After his wife happily left, Luo Yan summoned his assistant to look into Taoyang.
The assistant paused, then said, “I recently heard that during the Southern Alliance Summit, Miss Xiao from the Xiao family paid 65 million plus 40 crystal cores to purchase a plot of land in Taoyang. It should be the same place.”
Luo Yan, who had been indifferent until now, suddenly perked up. “Is the Xiao family throwing their money away?”
The assistant shrugged. “I’m not sure why, but Taoyang has gained some fame in the south lately—though most people are mocking Miss Xiao for the purchase. Rumor has it she bought the land to gift to her father, but Mr. Xiao is quite displeased with her decision.”
If Luo Yan were Mr. Xiao, he’d be furious too.
Was this a gift? Land in a small base was worthless—an easy target for zombies.
Women were truly irrational. And now, his own wife seemed to be under Taoyang’s spell, all because of that flame-colored kitten.
Taoyang is poison.
