Chapter 320: Jiang Jinwei Gets Dumped
Zhuo Ercheng’s anger surged. “Jiang! Jin! Wei!”
Jiang Jinwei was stunned, her outstretched hand freezing midair.
In her memory, this man was reserved, gentle, and had never yelled at her like this—unless he was truly furious.
“Ercheng—”
Zhuo Ercheng grabbed her hand, his eyes still burning with fury. “Have you had enough?”
Jiang Jinwei was both angry and aggrieved. “Of all people, why her? She’s my biological sister!”
Su Tao took a step back. “No, I don’t know you. Also, President Zhuo called me here to discuss the venue arrangements. It’s business. Please get your facts straight before you speak.”
Zhuo Ercheng felt utterly humiliated and apologized to Su Tao. “Sorry, Miss Su, for the trouble. Let’s continue this conversation another day.”
Su Tao replied, “No need for another day. If you have any matters to discuss, speak with Manager Ma. Goodbye.”
With that, she turned and left.
Jiang Jinwei refused to believe it, glaring daggers at Su Tao’s retreating figure.
Zhuo Ercheng roughly dragged her by the hand all the way to the car, slamming the door shut behind them.
Before Jiang Jinwei could say anything, he tossed a card at her.
“We’re breaking up. There are two million on this card, and the apartment I bought for you in Xindu is yours too. Don’t come looking for me again. Otherwise, every cent I spent on you—I’ll take it back, one by one.”
Jiang Jinwei’s mind exploded with a deafening “boom.”
Her teeth chattered. “Just for this? You’re leaving me? Fine, I won’t interfere anymore! You can go to Su Tao—I’ll pretend I don’t see it. No, no, you can be with anyone you want. I won’t do this again. You—You—Ercheng!”
This man was her backbone, the pillar of her glamorous life.
With him, she could stand above her family. With him, she could live comfortably in the post-apocalyptic world.
With him, she had the confidence to look down on the struggling masses in this era of chaos.
She couldn’t lose him!
Zhuo Ercheng’s chest ached from the anger.
How had he not noticed how unreasonable and foolish she was when they were dating? Back then, she seemed adorably spoiled yet carried the charm of a mature woman.
Now, he was seriously questioning his own taste in women.
He didn’t want to say another word to her. He got out of the car and walked away.
Jiang Jinwei stumbled after him, trying to stop him, but he mercilessly shook her off.
As luck would have it, Su Tao happened to be passing by and saw Jiang Jinwei falling to the ground in a pathetic heap.
She wanted to ignore it.
But Jiang Jinwei saw her and cried out, “Are you satisfied now?”
Su Tao was instantly infuriated. She took a few quick steps forward, looking down at Jiang Jinwei.
“Satisfied with what? What does your mess have to do with me? Whether you’re doing well or not is none of my concern. But you—when you’re doing well, you come flaunting it in my face, and when you’re down, you call me over? What do you want? You want me to see how miserable you are and pity you?”
Jiang Jinwei trembled violently, unable to say a word.
“And let me make this clear—used men might be your thing, but they’re not mine. Open your eyes! Your real rival has been flaunting herself in front of you countless times, and you’re too dumb to notice. Instead, you come barking up my tree.
“Here’s my advice—take your breakup money and live honestly. It won’t be as glamorous as before, but at least it’ll be stable. If you keep messing around, you’ll lose both your man and your money. And worse, you’ll end up as someone’s pawn.”
Deng Zilu was a scheming woman. Jiang Jinwei, a fool, was no match for her. It was only a matter of time before she got sacrificed.
Su Tao didn’t care whether she listened or not. She turned and left.
She had business to discuss with Ma Dapao about what to auction at the upcoming event.
She was here to make money, and the auction was a golden opportunity.
The ever-persistent Song Yuebin chimed in, “We could auction off Flame. The price will be as beautiful as the fire itself. Or, if nothing else, Chili Pepper.”
Then, he’d buy them—no matter the cost.
Su Tao dismissed the idea. “No. Next.”
The group engaged in a lively discussion until Ma Dapao had a sudden stroke of genius.
“Boss, how about customized housing? I heard that before the apocalypse, rich people would order tailored clothes. Why don’t we offer custom-built homes? Any floor plan, left blank for the buyer to design.”
Everyone thought it was a brilliant idea.
Su Tao nodded, letting her imagination run wild.
“Better yet, let’s designate a plot of land. I’ll put up a protective shield, and buyers can design whatever they want—villas, other buildings, anything. Once they finalize their design, I’ll build it for them.”
Ma Dapao’s eyes gleamed, sensing a fortune to be made.
“The price is going to be beautiful…”
No sooner said than done, Su Tao accessed her system and used three crystal cores to clear a 300-square-meter plot near Taoyang. She then spent 300,000 Federation credits to construct a protective barrier.
Afterward, she pulled up surveillance footage and took several pictures of the vacant land from different angles.
With the materials in hand, Ma Dapao went to negotiate the starting bid with Zhuo Ercheng.
Zhuo Ercheng, having just dumped an idiot, was in a much better mood—until he saw Ma Dapao’s proposal. His polite smile froze.
“An empty plot of land?”
Ma Dapao began his pitch.
“Yes, President Zhuo, you should be familiar with Taoyang. Any land within Taoyang’s borders is covered by a protective shield. The temperature inside is comfortable, and the safety level is exceptionally high. Forget zombies—even those recent underground creepers that can fly and burrow can’t break in. I dare say, even Changjing isn’t as safe as Taoyang.”
“Plus, buyers can design whatever they want on this land—even multi-story buildings, as long as they don’t exceed five floors. Anything above that will cost extra.”
Zhuo Ercheng’s heart pounded.
He had been gathering intelligence on Taoyang recently. The protective shield was absolutely real, and that alone was enough to attract countless buyers. And now, the land came with free construction?
The best part—he could build a three-story villa with a spacious courtyard, move his family in, and have Taoyang’s resources right next door. Life would be effortless.
He asked in a deep voice, “What’s the starting bid?”
Ma Dapao remained composed. “Fifty million Federation credits, plus 40 crystal cores, for permanent ownership. We’re essentially selling this 300-square-meter plot outright. The crystal cores aren’t mandatory, but the price won’t drop below fifty million.”
Zhuo Ercheng took a deep breath.
“Manager Ma, I’m well aware of Taoyang’s value, and I have no objections to your pricing. But most people aren’t familiar with Taoyang yet. To them, a piece of land there might seem no different from an empty wasteland.”
“Fifty million plus 40 crystal cores will scare off a lot of buyers.”
Ma Dapao shook his head. “That just means they don’t recognize its worth. They don’t understand the benefits of living in Taoyang. This price is already a steal. Once Taoyang’s reputation grows, even doubling the price won’t guarantee a sale. If no one bids now, we’d rather make nothing than sell it cheap.”
