I Am a Landlady in the Apocalypse – CH310

The Streaking Incident

Chapter 310: The Streaking Incident

Jiang Jinwei wasn’t actually close with these ladies and socialites, but she had overheard them discussing Taoyang the day before. They were talking about how Taoyang not only sold supplies and clean water but also had high-quality rental housing.

Jiang Jinwei didn’t know much about Taoyang, but to integrate into the southern socialite circle quickly, she took the initiative to say that she had a younger sister living there.

Sure enough, their attitudes toward her changed immediately.

Taoyang had appeared out of nowhere. Before the summit, people had only heard rumors that a small place near Dongyang was selling supplies and water, but no one knew if it was true.

Only a small number of early adopters had paid a hefty membership fee—using crystal cores—to obtain goods. These people kept the information secret, fearing that more buyers would mean less for them.

Among these ladies, one of their husbands was one of those early adopters. Through her, the group confirmed that Taoyang was real.

Moreover, at the summit, there had been an especially active manager named Ma from Taoyang. In just two days, he had built strong connections with the southern business giants, further solidifying Taoyang’s credibility.

However, the men’s social circles were inaccessible to the socialites, so they had to find another way—by trying to connect with the women of Taoyang.

And Jiang Jinwei happened to appear at the right time.

The ladies immediately regarded her more highly, hoping she could introduce them to her “sister” in Taoyang.

Jiang Jinwei felt a newfound sense of superiority and eagerly agreed.

Who knew Su Tao would completely ignore her, coldly looking at her and saying,

“I don’t know you. Who is your sister?”

The ladies, who had been about to approach, stopped in their tracks, caught in an awkward silence.

A young and hot-tempered woman couldn’t hold back and glared at Jiang Jinwei.

“She doesn’t even know you! Why are you making up family ties?”

The other socialites were also displeased. They felt like they had been tricked and embarrassed. Their gazes toward Jiang Jinwei turned unfriendly.

Jiang Jinwei was so furious she felt like her skull was about to explode.

She had been the one who forced Su Tao out of the house and refused to acknowledge her as a sister. Now, she wanted to claim her back? Things didn’t work that way.

Ignoring Jiang Jinwei, Su Tao politely smiled at the ladies.

“Hello.”

Her smile was sincere, and with her young age, she instantly won their favor.

An older lady stepped forward with a warm smile.

“Sorry about that, dear. We didn’t mean to make a joke of things. She told us you were her sister, so we believed her. Hope you don’t mind.”

The others also gathered around Su Tao, deliberately pushing Jiang Jinwei aside to chat with her.

Jiang Jinwei was nearly shoved off balance, barely managing to steady herself.

Watching Su Tao become the center of attention, Jiang Jinwei felt both indignant and dazed.

Growing up, Su Tao had always been the least favored and most ignored in their family.

Her mother, Li Ronglian, hadn’t married Su Jianming for love—it was purely for benefits. Li Ronglian wanted his house, and Su Jianming valued her father’s government position in Dongyang.

Both had past families, and their union was built on mutual interests. Su Tao was born out of those interests.

But shortly after her birth, Li Ronglian’s father passed away. The political connection was gone, and Su Jianming quickly brought his two sons from his previous marriage into the household.

Li Ronglian, unwilling to lose, also brought her daughter from her first marriage to live with them.

Su Jianming valued sons over daughters. His sons were ambitious and didn’t care for their half-sister.

Li Ronglian already had a daughter she was closer to, so naturally, she showed more affection to her firstborn.

The family split into two factions, and Su Tao became the most unnecessary member of both.

Jiang Jinwei couldn’t understand—since when had Su Tao become so likable and valued by others?

Was it just because she lived in Taoyang?

Or did she just find a good man?

Otherwise, how could she have gotten into Taoyang?!

“You’re really Su Tao’s sister? Her biological sister?”

Jiang Jinwei looked up and saw the woman who had just spoken to Su Tao.

She sneered, “If you don’t believe me, why are you even asking?”

Deng Zilu remained doubtful. “You don’t even look alike, and your last names are different. Plus, she said she doesn’t know you. How can we believe you?”

Jiang Jinwei glanced back at Su Tao, who was happily chatting with the ladies. The sight made her even more frustrated.

“We have the same mother but different fathers. She’s just denying me to embarrass me. She’s been against me since childhood. She’s just lucky to have gotten into Taoyang.”

Deng Zilu immediately caught on to the key point. “You don’t get along with her?”

Jiang Jinwei didn’t reply, but her clenched teeth and furious expression said it all.

Deng Zilu smirked in delight.

What an idiot Jiang Jinwei was!

If she were in her position, she would have held on tightly to Su Tao, treated her ten times better, and used her to gather more intel about Taoyang. That way, Zhuo Ercheng would see her as valuable!

But instead, Jiang Jinwei had completely ruined her relationship with Su Tao.

No wonder Ercheng said she was immature.

At this rate, Jiang Jinwei would be discarded soon, sent back to wherever she came from. Deng Zilu wouldn’t even need to lift a finger.

Just then, a series of screams echoed across the banquet hall.

Su Tao and the others instinctively turned toward the commotion, but before she could see anything, a pair of hands covered her eyes.

She immediately recognized the familiar scent—Shi Zijin.

Su Tao tried to pull his hands away. “What’s going on? Let me see.”

Before she could get an answer, the surrounding ladies also shrieked, shouting, “Pervert!”

Deng Zilu had caught sight of the horror first.

An old man, stark naked, had just run into the dance floor, his wrinkled skin on full display. He looked thrilled, his eyes dazed, lunging at people like a hunched, lecherous beast.

Behind him, a panicked waiter followed, pale as a sheet, trying to explain,

“I was just cleaning the lounge when he suddenly rushed out! I have no idea what happened—!”
