I Am a Landlady in the Apocalypse – CH292

Want to Smash the Car?

Chapter 292: Want to Smash the Car?

Deng Zixuan had never imagined that after being ambushed by bandits on the road, losing her father due to the indifference of others, and being abandoned by the very ability users who were supposed to protect them, she and her mother would still manage to survive and make it to Xindu.

All of this was thanks to her wonderful sister.

Her sister, Deng Zilu, had lost contact with them, but she had immediately sought help from her incredibly resourceful husband, who arranged for people to search along the route.

Without too much trouble, they were found.

After being brought to Xindu, Deng Zixuan and her mother saw the standalone apartment her sister was living in and couldn’t help but feel envious.

“Sis, brother-in-law really spoils you. There are barely a few houses like this in Luonan, and even if there were, our family wouldn’t have had a chance to live in one.”

Their father, Deng Chengye, had held a respectable government position in Luonan, but there were many who outranked him.

Now that he was gone, the Song family’s standing in Luonan had likely crumbled completely.

Holding her mother’s and sister’s hands, Deng Zilu reassured them,

“Dad is gone, but I’ll take care of you from now on. Stay in Xindu with me. With Ercheng around, no one here would dare to bully us.”

Deng Zixuan had already seen how prosperous Xindu was.

Everything Luonan had, Xindu had as well—and it was better in every way. And what Luonan lacked, Xindu had long since developed.

The stark contrast made her realize just how powerful her future brother-in-law was.

She felt both happy and envious, with a hint of bitterness.

Fang Yan, on the other hand, was much more straightforward. Grabbing her eldest daughter’s hand, she said,

“Lulu, you’ve made something of yourself. But don’t ever forget how your father died! Those bandits—and those who refused to help! Yes, from that little place called Taoyang! They somehow managed to swindle their way into getting an RV. And also…”

As Deng Zilu listened to her mother’s complaints, she quietly memorized all the key details.

The bandits? She didn’t need to worry about them—once the summit was successfully concluded, Xindu would be sending troops to wipe them out. Otherwise, how could Xindu maintain its reputation?

As for this so-called Taoyang, it was nothing more than a small town. Hardly worth taking seriously.

If they had come to Xindu, it was undoubtedly to participate in the summit. It would be easy enough to strip them of their qualification and teach them a lesson—some people should learn who they shouldn’t mess with.

But, of course, Ercheng would have to approve of the plan first.

Lately, however, he had seemed extremely busy, constantly traveling between Dongyang and Xindu.

She had no idea what was so special about that rundown place to make him spend so much time there.

Deng Zilu was feeling uneasy, worried that her man had gotten involved with some random woman while in Xindu.

Zhuo Ercheng was great in every way—except for the fact that he was too much of a playboy.

But then again, how many rich and powerful men weren’t? In the end, whoever could secure a place in the Zhuo family depended on their own abilities.

She had originally planned to spend some time investigating Taoyang. However, the next day, when she took her mother and sister out shopping, they happened to spot their enemy’s car just as they were parking.

Fang Yan instantly lost control, shouting, “That’s the car! Those heartless bastards—I’m smashing it!”

Just seeing the vehicle brought back memories of her dead husband, whose body had barely gone cold.

The old mechanic, sensing trouble, stepped forward warily.

“What do you want to do?”

Fang Yan sneered. “What do you think? Smash it!”

With that, she kicked the newly installed bumper, knocking it out of place.

The mechanic was furious. “Do you have any idea how expensive this car is? Can you even afford to pay for the damage?!”

Deng Zilu had initially wanted to stop her mother, as causing a scene in a public parking lot wasn’t exactly respectable.

But upon hearing the mechanic imply that she couldn’t afford it, she flew into a rage.

“Ajian, smash it! Whatever it costs, I’ll pay!”

Ajian, the driver and bodyguard Zhuo Ercheng had assigned to her before he left, was a muscular fighter, more than capable of carrying out her orders.

The mechanic tried to stop them.

Deng Zilu warned him coldly, “We have a personal feud with the owner of this car. If you don’t want to get involved, I suggest you keep your mouth shut and leave.”

Su Tao had already seen what happened next.

The old mechanic did his best to protect the car, only to be grabbed by the throat by Ajian.

Furious, Su Tao shouted, “Let him go!”

Before Ajian could even turn around to see who was speaking, a sharp pain shot through his wrist, and he instinctively released the mechanic.

Who?!

He hadn’t even seen the person make a move!

The mechanic coughed violently, and Shi Zijin quickly stepped forward to support him. Are you okay?”

The young apprentices, who had been watching in fear, hurried over to check on their teacher.

Meanwhile, Deng Zixuan and Fang Yan had recognized Shi Zijin.

Deng Zixuan instinctively felt afraid of him, taking a half-step back and staying silent.

Fang Yan, however, grabbed her eldest daughter’s hand, trembling. “It’s him! He could’ve saved your father! But he let him die in my arms—I… I…”

Deng Zilu hadn’t expected their enemy to be such a strikingly handsome man with an air of nobility.

After spending so much time around Zhuo Ercheng, she had developed a sharp intuition.

And this man… he was probably not much weaker than Zhuo Ercheng.

He carried the aura of a true leader—perhaps even more than Zhuo Ercheng.

His hands bore callouses, a sign that he was no stranger to real combat.

A man who had fought on the battlefield.

This was completely different from what her mother and sister had told her.

Taoyang was indeed a small town—she had never even heard of it. But this man was definitely someone important.

For the first time, she wasn’t sure how to handle the situation.

Had she been overthinking things? Had she grown overly cautious after spending too much time around the scheming Zhuo Ercheng?

Su Tao quickly ran over, first checking if the mechanics were hurt before inspecting her beloved car. Apart from the slightly misaligned bumper, there wasn’t any other damage.

She let out a breath of relief but still looked furious as she turned to the three Deng women.

“What do you want? Blocking our car on the highway, nearly causing us to crash and die wasn’t enough? Now you want to smash it?”

Fang Yan knew that blocking the car had been a low move, but she would never admit it. Instead, she lashed out angrily.

“Your car? Who the hell are you? You were driving so fast—how is that our fault?! And don’t even get me started on the fact that you ignored people crying for help! You’re all heartless scum! If your car flipped, you would’ve deserved it!”

Deng Zixuan quickly glanced at Shi Zijin before immediately lowering her gaze and whispering to her older sister.

“Sis, that car is either stolen or looted. The interior is ridiculously fancy—even my brother-in-law doesn’t live that well.”

Thinking she had found an easy target, Deng Zixuan directly confronted Su Tao. “Do you even have the registration and proof of purchase?”

How could these country bumpkins afford such a luxurious RV?

Su Tao really didn’t have the paperwork with her.

Seeing her silence, Deng Zixuan smirked. “Sis, they’re probably in league with the bandits. I say we seize the car and have brother-in-law’s people take it away. Then we’ll bring them in for questioning.”
