I Am a Landlady in the Apocalypse – CH275

Asking the Wrong Person

Chapter 275: Asking the Wrong Person

Fang Yan’s eyes widened. “What?”

Tang Le was already a little afraid of Shi Zijin. Hearing this cold question, he immediately froze in place, not daring to move.

Wei Xiang frowned. “A life is at stake. Please, sir, take us with you.”

The usually mild-mannered Nie Sibo suddenly spoke up angrily:

“And what does that have to do with us? It was you who suddenly ran out and blocked our car, almost causing us to overturn! Has anyone apologized for that? You don’t care about our lives, so why should we care about yours? Ridiculous!”

Back at the old station, Wei Xiang often mocked and ostracized him. But now, working under Boss Su and having Major Shi as their backer, Nie Sibo had no reason to tolerate it anymore!

Xu Qi snorted from his nose.

“Didn’t you leave all high and mighty? You probably thought we’d come begging you for a way to survive one day. But look at this—Wei Xiang, and it’s you who’s begging us now?”

Mist spoke expressionlessly. “Back when I was captured, wasn’t it you, Wei Xiang, who was the first to claim I’d betray you? You supported leaving me behind, didn’t you?”

Wei Xiang’s face turned red, then purple, then the color of pig liver.

Fang Yan understood immediately!

These people knew Wei Xiang, but they had a deep grudge against him!

And because of Wei Xiang, they refused to save her husband!

Troublemaker!

Deng Zixuan reacted the fastest. She quickly stepped toward Shi Zijin, tears streaming down her face.

“Sir, we didn’t know Wei Xiang was this kind of person! If we had known, we never would have hired such a scoundrel. My father is innocent—please, I beg you, save him!”

Fang Yan quickly echoed her plea.

Wei Xiang glared at them, so furious he was about to cough up blood.

The Deng women were completely ruthless—using him when it was convenient and discarding him in an instant!

Tang Le was also annoyed. He dropped Deng Chengye onto the ground and walked away.

Deng Zixuan cried even harder and finally reached out to grab Shi Zijin’s sleeve.

Shi Zijin didn’t move, merely giving an order to the white-furred dog beside him:

“Go. The forehead.”

In an instant, Xuedao pounced on Deng Zixuan, sending her crashing to the ground. She shrieked in fear.

Xuedao had no interest in showing mercy. It sank its teeth into her forehead, drawing blood.

Cen Tianjiao understood immediately—this was Shi Zijin avenging Boss Su!

Fang Yan, both furious and terrified, screamed, “What are you doing?! That damn dog—get away!”

Xuedao swiped its paw across her face.

Shi Zijin had no interest in dealing with women. He turned and got into the car.

Cen Tianjiao caught his gaze and knew what to do—his role today included being the enforcer.

He grabbed Fang Yan by the collar, grinning menacingly.

“You think being Zhuo’s mother-in-law makes you important? Who do you think you are? Xindu invites our boss to attend the conference every year, even sends gifts to our doorstep, but he couldn’t care less. If it weren’t for special circumstances, he wouldn’t have bothered coming this time. You’d better act humbly—don’t think climbing onto Zhuo Ercheng’s back means your whole family is set for life.”

Fang Yan refused to believe it!

But Cen Tianjiao didn’t care whether she believed him or not. He tossed her to the ground, then turned to warn Deng Zixuan, who was clutching her bleeding forehead in horror.

“You’re still young—don’t waste your time learning how to seduce men. Not every man falls for it. And that injury? That’s the price you pay for blocking the road.”

Then he waved his hand. “Alright, let’s go!”

Jian Kaiyu silently glanced at Deng Chengye, who was still unconscious. He could tell—if they didn’t stop the bleeding soon, the man wouldn’t last another half hour.

But since the boss hadn’t said anything, he wouldn’t play the hero.

Honestly, they had it coming. Blocking the road was bad enough, but refusing to apologize and acting so arrogant?

If they had spoken properly, humbly pleaded for help, maybe Boss Su and Shi Zijin would have given in.

After all, the grudge was with Wei Xiang, not the others.

Half of Deng Chengye’s predicament was his wife and daughter’s fault.

Jian Kaiyu shook his head and climbed into the car.

Xu Qi had just opened the car door when Tang Le came running over.

“Brother Xu Qi, please take me with you! I’m begging you!”

He was not staying here!

No water, no food—if no other vehicles passed by, they’d die of thirst and heat exhaustion within three days!

Pride and dignity? That meant nothing compared to survival!

Seeing Tang Le making the first move, the other men who had followed Wei Xiang also rushed forward, looking hopefully at Xu Qi.

Nie Sibo snorted and got into the car.

Mist didn’t even glance at them.

Xu Qi said expressionlessly, “It’s not my decision.”

Tang Le immediately turned to beg Shi Zijin through the car window.

Cen Tianjiao grabbed him. “You’re begging the wrong person. The real decision-maker is inside the car.” He sneered. “Besides, why am I even explaining this to you? Get lost.”

Everyone froze.

Even Deng’s mother and daughter, even Wei Xiang, all looked dumbfounded.

So that unfathomable man wasn’t in charge?

Wei Xiang took a few seconds to process it—then he understood.

Inside the car was that Su woman!

Xu Qi didn’t want them disturbing Su Tao. He leaned into the car and tossed out his share of supplies to Tang Le.

“Whether you live or die is up to you.”

Tang Le didn’t even check the bag’s contents—he grabbed it instinctively. Then he watched as their vehicles drove off, becoming tiny black dots on the horizon.

His eyes turned red. He dropped the bag, then suddenly lunged at Wei Xiang, shoving him hard.

“This is all your fault! You got us all screwed!”

The others remained silent, but their faces showed agreement.

Thinking back on the journey with Wei Xiang, the grand promises he made—it was all bullshit.

Wei Xiang’s chest heaved. He grabbed Tang Le and punched him.

The two men immediately started brawling, even using their abilities.

Finally, someone shouted:

“Brother Xu Qi’s bag has water!”

Wei Xiang and Tang Le stopped fighting at once.

Tang Le took a deep breath, shot Wei Xiang a vicious glare, and ran toward the bag with the others.

Xu Qi’s bag was just an ordinary backpack—one Su Tao had prepared for everyone before departure.

Every morning, each person received a daily supply pack: two bottles of water, one bottle of a sports drink, three energy bars, a pack of beef jerky, two packs of biscuits, two loaves of bread, a pack of wet wipes, and two packs of tissues.

To Su Tao, these were just standard supplies—nothing special. She gave them out generously and without a second thought..

But to Tang Le and the others, it was a completely different story.

To them, these supplies were like a bomb dropping out of nowhere, shaking them to their core.
