Chapter 181: The Past of Villa No. 5
Seeing the message from Hot Noodles, Fang Xiaocao’s eyes practically turned digital.
Fang Xiaocao: This gossip is amazing!
Fang Xiaocao: I’m a gossip-loving dog, and I love it!
Eating gossip is good for mental and physical health—this was Fang Xiaocao’s philosophy of self-care.
“And then? And then?”
Seeing that Hot Noodles had stopped talking, the gossip-hungry Fang Xiaocao quickly sent another message, urging them to spill more.
At this moment, neither Fang Xiaocao nor Hot Noodles knew that the assassin hunting her down was none other than Taotie.
If Fang Xiaocao found out that the juicy gossip she was enjoying so much was actually about the very assassin pursuing her, would she be even more excited?
Hot Noodles: Why are you in such a rush? I need time to go through the files.
“Fine, take your time, I won’t rush you.”
For the sake of gossip, Fang Xiaocao was suddenly on her best behavior. She didn’t even throw a single snarky remark at Hot Noodles.
Hot Noodles: After Taotie moved into Villa No. 5, he spent all his time with the younger sister. When the homeowners—her older sister and brother-in-law—returned from a trip, they found out that the two were already living together.
Although the older sister didn’t like Taotie, since her younger sister was in love with him, she reluctantly accepted the situation.
But she never expected that her compromise would mark the beginning of a nightmare.
Originally, even though Taotie and the homeowners lived under the same roof, they kept out of each other’s way—until one day, Taotie had an argument with the younger sister.
In a fit of anger, the younger sister hid something important belonging to Taotie and lied, saying she had thrown it away.
Taotie was furious. He slapped her and searched through the trash, but he couldn’t find his item. When he returned to the villa to continue interrogating her, the older brother-in-law had just come home from work.
The brother-in-law saw that his sister-in-law had been hit and immediately confronted Taotie. But in his rage, Taotie beat him to death.
After killing the brother-in-law, Taotie turned his attention back to the younger sister. She was terrified, screaming that she would call the police. Enraged, Taotie killed her too.
Reading up to this point, Fang Xiaocao blinked and recalled what she knew about Villa No. 5. Then she sent a message:
“Wait, that doesn’t make sense. How did the older sister survive?”
Hot Noodles: The older sister didn’t have a passport due to some personal reasons, so at the time, she had used her younger sister’s passport to travel abroad.
Right before Taotie came back, the brother-in-law had been on a call with her. He put down the phone when Taotie returned, but he didn’t hang up.
So, the older sister overheard the entire murder.
“What?”
“So that’s how it happened?”
Fang Xiaocao exclaimed in shock after reading Hot Noodles’ explanation.
But something still felt off.
She quickly sent another message:
“If her husband and sister were both killed, why didn’t the older sister call the police?”
Hot Noodles: I don’t know. The files don’t say. Maybe she was threatened. After all, Blacklist is a powerful organization. They might have found a way to control her.
But since she was overseas, they couldn’t do anything to her, which is why they never silenced her.
As for why she didn’t report it back then, I have no idea.
After reading this, Fang Xiaocao fell silent.
Even TV dramas wouldn’t dare write a plot like this, right?
“Alright, so the thing the younger sister hid—it was Taotie’s martial arts manual, wasn’t it?”
Fang Xiaocao squinted, making a guess.
Hot Noodles: You got it half right. The training plans were in there, but more importantly, there were other things hidden alongside them.
Otherwise, Taotie wouldn’t have stayed at Villa No. 5 for so long, killed so many people, and even caused a major failure for Blacklist because of these lost items.
This is all the information I have. You need to hurry to Villa No. 5 and find those things.
“What exactly is it?”
“Did you not get it in the future?”
“And why didn’t you tell me to look for it when I first bought Villa No. 5?”
Fang Xiaocao immediately stood up and started packing her things while sending voice messages.
Hot Noodles: I only recently got this intel. When you bought Villa No. 5, I had no idea these things existed.
By the time I found out and went to look, they were already gone.
A few years later, the older sister returned to the country, and Villa No. 5 was broken into around the same time.
I suspect she took them.
So, if you go now, the items might still be there. If we get our hands on them, we might learn more about Blacklist.
“Understood!”
“I’m heading to Villa No. 5 right now!”
After reading Hot Noodles’ message, Fang Xiaocao immediately left the room.
She rented a shared bike and rode for five kilometers, making sure she wasn’t being followed. Then, she found an old coin-operated bus and hopped on.
Choosing a seat at the very back, she let the bus take her in loops around the city.
Fang Xiaocao wasn’t about to get cornered inside her own property. If a fight broke out in Villa No. 5, she’d be the one losing money from property damage!
After switching between multiple bus routes and confirming once again that no one was tailing her, she finally headed toward Villa No. 5.
Upon arrival, she entered the security code, locked the door behind her, and checked the entire house for signs of intrusion.
Finding nothing unusual, she took out her phone and sent a message:
Fang Xiaocao: I’m at Villa No. 5. Where is it?
Hot Noodles: The attic.
“Phew…”
“At least it’s not the basement!”
Fang Xiaocao sighed in relief.
She still had nightmares about the severed head she had found in the basement’s safe.
Tucking her phone into her pocket, she climbed up to the attic.
Fang Xiaocao: Where exactly in the attic?
Hot Noodles: The ceiling—third panel from the left. It’s movable. Push it up gently, and it’ll open. The items are inside.
“Got it!”
Fang Xiaocao replied and quickly located the third panel. She reached up and gave it a slight push.
“Click.”
The panel shifted.
