Chapter 175: The Ability to Yield and Endure
“How would I know how the cops found us? We didn’t leave any traces.”
Han Xue rolled her eyes and retorted.
“What were my orders to you?”
“Why did you go to that hotel?”
“You even killed someone on the way?”
“Because of you, our organization suffered a huge loss!”
The old man glared at Han Xue and questioned her angrily.
“I went for revenge, so what?”
“When you recruited me, you promised to help me avenge myself.”
“My revenge isn’t complete, and you already want me to work for you?”
Faced with the old man’s fury, Han Xue remained indifferent.
“What kind of organization has Han Xue joined?”
Hiding in the bushes and eavesdropping, Tom muttered to himself.
In truth, Tom had caught up with Han Xue earlier that night but discovered that she had backup. Instead of taking action immediately, he decided to tail her. He watched as her allies distracted Shiguang’s team and then followed Han Xue to this godforsaken place.
“Are you seeking death?”
The old man’s voice turned cold.
“Hmph! Kill me if you want—I’m not afraid!”
Han Xue snorted, showing no fear of the looming danger.
Slap!
A crisp slap echoed through the air.
Tom instinctively touched his own cheek—he could feel the sting just from watching.
Just as Han Xue finished speaking, the silent young man beside the old man moved with lightning speed. In an instant, he appeared beside Han Xue and delivered a brutal slap.
Han Xue spun three times before collapsing onto the ground. A trickle of blood seeped from the corner of her mouth, and her pale, delicate face swelled instantly.
“If you dare to talk back to Elder Li again, you deserve to be punished.”
The young man spoke expressionlessly.
“You…”
Han Xue clutched her cheek and glared at him.
“What are you staring at?”
“I’ll gouge out your eyes if you keep that up.”
Sensing her hostility, the young man warned her coldly.
“Do you still dare to defy us?”
The old man smirked.
“I… I don’t dare…”
Seeing the cold look in the young man’s eyes, Han Xue lowered her head and answered weakly.
But hidden beneath her bangs, her eyes burned with hatred and resentment.
“Hahaha… What a lowly creature, born to be beaten!”
Seeing Han Xue submit, the old man chuckled.
“Yes, Elder Li is right…”
“I am a lowly creature…”
“I deserve to be beaten…”
Han Xue lowered her head and echoed his words.
She was afraid.
She knew that in the face of absolute power, her life was as fragile as paper.
To exact revenge, she had to survive first.
“You two bastards, just wait!”
“One day, I’ll kill you both!”
Han Xue seethed inwardly.
“Heh…”
“Good, good, good…”
“Such a humble little wretch.”
The old man laughed.
“Little wretch, clean my shoes with your tongue.”
Grinning coldly, he placed his mud-stained leather shoe on Han Xue’s shoulder.
“Yes…”
Han Xue obediently responded and lifted his foot.
“Hahahaha…”
Watching her lick his shoe, the old man laughed triumphantly.
Hiding in the grass, Tom sighed inwardly.
“Han Xue really knows when to yield and endure…”
After finishing one shoe, Han Xue, without waiting for further orders, crawled to lick the other.
As mud and sand filled her mouth, the hatred in her heart grew uncontrollably.
“You old bastard, just wait…”
“I will repay today’s humiliation a hundredfold.”
She vowed silently.
“Alright, that’s enough. Stand up.”
The old man chuckled as he saw both shoes cleaned.
Hearing his command, Han Xue obediently stood up, her head lowered submissively.
“Let’s go.”
The old man glanced at Han Xue and smiled before turning to leave.
The young man followed with his hands in his pockets, his sharp eyes scanning the surroundings vigilantly. Han Xue, head lowered, trailed behind them step by step.
Once they were out of sight, Tom slowly emerged from the grass.
After hesitating briefly, he decided to follow them.
At the Hotel
Knock, knock, knock!
Fang Xiaocao’s door was knocked upon.
The sudden sound made her instantly alert. She sprang up from the bed, and with a flick of her wrist, a throwing knife slid from her sleeve into her palm.
Knock, knock, knock!
The knocking continued.
“Who is it?”
She hesitated before asking.
“Hello, room service.”
A woman’s voice came from outside.
Fang Xiaocao glanced at the clock—12:00 PM.
This was a reasonable time for housekeeping.
“Wait a moment.”
She responded while walking toward the door, keeping her grip on the knife tight.
One could never be too careful.
She turned the lock and slightly opened the door.
Standing outside was a woman dressed in a hotel housekeeping uniform.
But something about her immediately raised Fang Xiaocao’s guard.
Something was off!
It was rare for hotel cleaners to be so young.
Most young people wouldn’t take a job in housekeeping.
Moreover, the woman exuded a strange aura that made Fang Xiaocao uncomfortable.
“Hello, room service.”
The woman lowered her gaze and spoke softly.
“No need. You can leave.”
Fang Xiaocao responded bluntly and shut the door without hesitation.
If something felt off, letting her in would be inviting trouble.
Outside, the woman’s lips curled into a cold smile as she pushed the cleaning cart away.
Inside, Fang Xiaocao, who had been listening closely, felt her heart sink.
“That woman was definitely suspicious!”
She thought to herself.
Hotel cleaners usually worked on an entire floor. Why would she leave right after knocking on one door? Shouldn’t she have knocked on the next room?
Piecing everything together, Fang Xiaocao immediately gathered her belongings, preparing to leave.
This hotel was no longer safe.
Just then, her phone screen lit up.
She picked it up and saw a message from Scalding Noodles.
Without hesitation, she opened the chat.
Hot Noodles: Get out now! You’re exposed! Blacklist agents are closing in!
Seeing the message, Fang Xiaocao murmured, “As expected.”
That fake hotel cleaner was a Blacklist scout.
“Got it!”
She replied and moved toward the balcony.
