Doomsday: Scavenging in a Survival Game – CH49

Beast Taming Talent, A Warning

Chapter 49: Beast Taming Talent, A Warning

Su Ning didn’t slow down, rushing quickly toward the site of the explosion, her heart filled with curiosity and confusion.

She couldn’t help but wonder, “Why was the explosion so intense?”

Along the way, she kept thinking about the question, trying to find an answer.

She analyzed all kinds of possibilities as she hurried forward.

Was this explosion aimed at the zombies, or was there another purpose? If it was targeting zombies, did that mean someone was trying to complete the [100,000 Zombies] mission by such drastic means?

However, if it was directed at humans or players, the consequences would be unimaginable. Thinking of this made Su Ning shudder.

A sensing zombie closely followed beside Su Ning, staying alert to the surroundings.

Soon, they reached the area near the explosion site.

Su Ning stopped, staring in shock at the thick smoke billowing from the devastated city in front of her, rendered speechless.

The chain reaction from the explosion was clearly visible before her eyes—flames soared high, and blazing fire lit up the entire sky.

And now, because of the explosive sounds, zombies had been drawn to the location, forming a horrifying and terrifying scene.

Looking into the distance, Su Ning muttered to herself, “This explosion seems to be meant for the zombies, but…”

Something didn’t feel right. A trace of worry and unease appeared in Su Ning’s eyes, as if she had sensed something abnormal behind the incident.

Ning Wu’s face was as pale as paper, filled with pain and regret.

“It’s my fault Feifei and Taotao died! All my fault.” His voice was full of self-blame and despair, as if his entire world had collapsed in that moment.

Regret consumed him as he wondered why he had chosen to enter this base in the first place.

Originally, Ning Wu thought this was a shelter made up of players—a place where everyone would work together to survive the seven days of the dungeon. But he never expected such great danger to be hidden here. He had naively believed that if everyone stayed united, they could survive peacefully until the end.

But reality slapped him in the face.

Ning Wu never imagined that a madman would go to any lengths for a planting space.

They actually came up with such a cruel method to deal with zombies.

They used ordinary people and players with no offensive abilities as bait, lured the zombies in, and then when they had gathered in large numbers—detonated bombs to wipe them out.

Feifei and Taotao, the poor souls, were killed in that explosion, turned to ashes.

Ning Wu witnessed everything, his heart drowning in unspeakable sorrow.

He hated his own powerlessness for not being able to stop this tragedy, and he hated those deranged players even more—for sacrificing innocent lives for their own selfish gains.

Now, his heart was consumed by endless pain and hatred, as if he had lost all hope.

The player who organized this attack was extremely powerful—Ning Wu was no match. If it hadn’t been for another player using wind abilities to fight back, and his own [Acceleration] talent to flee, he might not have escaped alive.

He sprinted at full speed, becoming a blur, fully utilizing his acceleration talent.

He thought he had escaped… but the next second, a voice chilled him to the bone.

“Really, you can run. You’re making me sweat here.”

Ning Wu looked back to see a skinny man riding a massive black lizard charging toward him.

It was one of the leaders behind the explosion—Wang Ke.

Wang Ke sneered, “You really are stupid. If you had just handed over one woman, you wouldn’t be in this situation. Your son wouldn’t have died either. Look at yourself—what do you have left now?”

Ning Wu wanted to slice off Wang Ke’s disgusting face, but he couldn’t even touch him.

With one sweep of its tail, Wang Ke’s enormous lizard sent Ning Wu flying.

Then it stomped down on him, drawing a scream of agony.

“Ah!”

Wang Ke jumped off the lizard and gently patted it, “Easy now. Hungry? It’s not time to eat him yet.”

Then he squatted down and grabbed Ning Wu’s hair, forcing eye contact.

“Tsk tsk. Honestly, in this world now, what woman can’t you get? But no—you had to treat your wife like a treasure. Well, look where that got you. Wife’s gone. Son’s dead.”

“I’m going to kill you!”

Wang Ke scratched his ear casually.

“Forget it. No use talking to you. My job is just to bring you to the boss.”

“Oh, and one more thing—resist again, and I’ll break your legs. See if you can still run.”

Just as Wang Ke was about to leave with his black lizard, the beast suddenly sensed something approaching.

The giant lizard hissed warily in one direction.

“Hm?” Wang Ke was surprised by the intense reaction.

He scanned the surroundings but saw no zombies—this area had already been cleared out by artillery. It would take time for new ones to gather.

So what could possibly make his baby feel threatened?

Soon, two figures appeared in front of Wang Ke.

But his attention was completely drawn to the girl standing ahead.

His eyes lit up instantly, and he unconsciously licked his lips.

“Didn’t expect to find something like this now.”

He sighed with appreciation. On the other side, Ning Wu, in a daze, recognized the person approaching.

His eyes widened as despair surged in his chest.

Using his last bit of strength, he shouted loudly, “Get out of here! Don’t trust any players in this dungeon! They’re all devils—run!”

It was Su Ning.

Seeing her, Ning Wu knew he no longer had a chance to live. But he still wanted to help Su Ning—warn her and help her escape this dangerous place.

This Death Zombie Hell Dungeon was truly hell—not just because of the zombies, but because of the people in it.

With everything he had, he yelled that final warning, hoping to alert Su Ning.

Wang Ke just looked at Ning Wu like a dead man.

And the giant black lizard beneath him, sensing its master’s mood, no longer hesitated.

It opened its bloody maw—and swallowed Ning Wu whole.

Blood splattered everywhere.

Su Ning had never expected things to escalate so quickly.

Her attention had been focused on Wang Ke and the black lizard’s data.

[Player: Wang Ke]
Talent: Beast Taming — Able to tame wild beasts to serve him.

[Black Wild Lizard] A monster from the Wild Jungle dungeon, later tamed by Wang Ke. Large in size, with powerful attack capabilities.
Owner: Wang Ke.

While she was reviewing their data, she hadn’t noticed Ning Wu under the lizard’s foot. By the time he shouted, she looked over—but by then it was too late.

The black lizard had already swallowed him whole.

By the time she reacted, Ning Wu had already died in the beast’s mouth.

But even without Ning Wu’s warning, just witnessing that scene told Su Ning everything she needed to know:

This man was no good.

And she didn’t see Ning Wu’s family either.

“So the shelter they went to really did have something wrong with it.”
