Chapter 136: Wang Qiang Injured
Axi performed a tactical roll, rolling into the open bathroom, but he kept his gun aimed at the door.
Han Xue remained on high alert as well, her finger hovering over the button of the remote control in her hand.
After all, she couldn’t be sure whether the police were planning to take them down all at once.
As she closed the door, she stole another glance at the corridor and staircase. Seeing that the figures in the stairwell still hadn’t made a move, she finally shut the door completely.
Han Xue pressed her ear against the closed door, listening for any movement in the hallway.
Axi also moved quietly, pressing his head against the door.
Neither of them spoke.
They remained still as statues, listening intently with their ears against the door, even holding their breath to avoid making any noise that might cause them to miss their best chance to counterattack.
Right now, they were like turtles trapped in a jar!
This was the fifth floor. Jumping out of the window to escape was impossible. Their only options were to fight their way out or be captured and thrown in prison.
“Where is the suspect now?”
Wang Qiang, sprinting up the stairs, pressed the communication button on his walkie-talkie and asked.
“Reporting, the suspect is fleeing to the sixth floor!”
The response came through the device.
Hearing this, Wang Qiang put away his walkie-talkie.
He was currently at the stairs between the sixth and seventh floors.
The support team should have already reached the sixth floor.
The suspect was likely to continue fleeing upwards to the seventh floor.
The sound of hurried footsteps echoed from below.
Wang Qiang narrowed his eyes, gripping the gun at his waist.
A deliveryman in a yellow uniform came into view, charging straight toward Wang Qiang.
Beneath the yellow helmet, the man’s eyes were filled with a sinister glint.
“Get out of my way!”
The deliveryman shouted fiercely upon seeing Wang Qiang.
“Freeze! Police!”
After locking eyes with him, Wang Qiang had no doubt—this was their target.
Without hesitation, he drew his gun and aimed it at the deliveryman.
The deliveryman’s eyes flashed with cold light. A dagger suddenly appeared in his hand, and he lunged straight at Wang Qiang.
Wang Qiang hesitated for 0.1 seconds.
He decided against pulling the trigger and disengaged the safety.
Instead, he lifted his leg and kicked toward the deliveryman’s knife-wielding hand.
But this deliveryman was clearly trained in combat. With a cold gleam in his eyes, he twisted the blade and aimed directly for Wang Qiang’s Achilles tendon.
The intent was obvious—disable Wang Qiang in a single move.
Wang Qiang quickly retracted his leg to avoid the strike.
The deliveryman seized the opportunity to close in and stabbed toward Wang Qiang’s abdomen.
Seeing this, Wang Qiang gritted his teeth.
He dodged sideways to avoid the blade and swung his gun, striking the attacker’s head with the butt.
In the narrow stairwell, the two engaged in fierce combat. A single mistake could mean either getting stabbed or tumbling down the stairs.
Before long, more detectives arrived at the stairwell.
They were met with the sight of fresh blood and Wang Qiang lying on the stairs, clutching his bleeding abdomen.
“Leader!”
“Boss!”
The detectives were horrified, rushing toward him.
“Go after him, he’s injured too…”
Wang Qiang said weakly, pressing against his wound.
“Call an ambulance, now!”
Someone shouted urgently.
“Go! Chase him!”
Wang Qiang used all his remaining strength to yell.
“Xiao Wang, Xiao Chen, you two stay with the team leader! The rest of you, with me!”
The deputy leader of the Major Crimes Unit commanded.
A trail of bloodstains, large and small, dotted the staircase between the sixth and seventh floors.
Clearly, the deliveryman was also seriously injured.
Five minutes later, an ambulance arrived.
Paramedics in blue emergency uniforms rushed in, quickly stopping Wang Qiang’s bleeding and carrying him out on a stretcher.
They took the employee elevator down to the first floor and exited through the back of the hotel, loading him into the ambulance.
Ten minutes later!
Another ambulance arrived at the back entrance of the hotel.
Two more injured individuals were carried out on stretchers.
One of them, dressed in a yellow delivery uniform now soaked in blood, was completely unconscious.
Fifth Floor, Room 512
Through the window, Axi and Han Xue watched the ambulances below and exchanged glances.
“Something really did happen in the hotel,” Axi said grimly.
“I didn’t hear any gunshots though?”
Han Xue blinked in confusion.
“They’re using the back entrance to take people away. Probably trying to avoid causing a panic,” Axi replied casually, grabbing a beer from the shopping bag on the nightstand and taking a sip.
“Phew…”
“As long as they’re not coming for us, that’s all that matters.”
Han Xue patted her chest, putting on an innocent, frightened expression.
“Fang Xiaocao is in Room 508. What’s your plan?”
Axi asked while taking another swig of beer.
“Are you sure?”
“Where did you get that information?”
Han Xue sat on the bed, crossing her legs and looking puzzled.
“I’m sure!”
Axi chugged more beer before explaining:
“After you left this afternoon, a housekeeper came up to clean all the rooms. I heard someone in 508 refuse housekeeping service.”
Hearing this, Han Xue nodded.
“Let’s take our time with this.”
“There are cops all over the place. Even if we take out Fang Xiaocao, escaping will be difficult.”
Han Xue pondered for a moment before speaking.
Axi nodded without saying a word and continued drinking his beer.
Room 507
Fang Xiaocao’s phone lit up.
She quickly grabbed it and unlocked the screen.
[Tom: Your Highness, mission accomplished. I’ve successfully hacked into the hotel’s surveillance system. I’ll send you a link shortly—just download the app, and you’ll be able to monitor the cameras in real-time.]
“Fantastic!”
Seeing the message, Fang Xiaocao couldn’t hide her excitement.
“Great! Send it to me quickly!”
She quickly replied.
Moments later, Tom sent her a link.
Fang Xiaocao eagerly clicked on it and began downloading the app.
[Tom: Your Highness, what’s our next move?]
“No rush. Take a break for now. Let me review the surveillance footage first, then we’ll plan our next steps.”
She replied before opening the newly downloaded app to access the hotel’s security feed.
Fang Xiaocao recalled the time when that suspicious mother and son had checked in earlier in the day and started reviewing the security footage.
She had a strong feeling that they were none other than Han Xue and Axi.
City Police Headquarters
Song Lin received the news that Wang Qiang had been injured.
He immediately set out for the hotel to take over command.
Although the hitman had been captured, Han Xue had yet to appear.
Song Lin decided to use Fang Xiaocao as bait to lure Han Xue into the open.
