Chapter 245: [My Mother] I Want to Leave the Hospital
Bai Cha uttered nothing, merely shaking her head gently.
“I am a little hungry. Mom, go buy some food, and remember to buy two portions. If you don’t eat, I won’t eat either.”
She shifted her gaze back toward the window.
To Mother Han, this was undeniably agonizing beyond measure.
It took Mother Han quite some time to barely maintain her composure. She nodded, stood up, and put on that coaxing smile once more.
“Alright, Mom will go buy food.”
Only when she turned around did Bai Cha shift her gaze back onto her.
This time, her expression was filled with sorrow and pain.
Not until a good while after Mother Han stepped outside did Bai Cha pull up the blanket and cover her head completely.
It looked as though she were grieving, but in truth, she was digging out the Tai Sui at her waist.
Ever since entering the instance, this item had transferred directly from her backpack into her pocket.
All she could say was that the game hadn’t been dog-like enough to display this entity right before everyone’s eyes.
From entering the instance until now, she had been continuously with Mother Han, leaving zero time to transfer the Tai Sui from her pocket. Besides, even if she did transfer it, she would still have to carry it on her person.
When she was taken to the hospital for examinations earlier, Bai Cha had been looking for an opportunity to place the Tai Sui somewhere, but this Tai Sui proved exceedingly clever, transforming itself from a white state into a transparent, colorless form and adhering as a thin layer to the skin at her waist.
Since there were no anomalies and no suitable opportunities, Bai Cha had simply left it alone.
Yet right during her conversation with Mother Han just now, Bai Cha had felt the Tai Sui stirring restlessly.
It seemed somewhat eager to head toward Mother Han’s side.
She forcefully gouged out the entire patch of Tai Sui and moved to press it onto her left wrist.
The Tai Sui turned stiff as iron in an instant, rigid like a stone, completely refusing to stick.
Bai Cha offered a silent, cold smile.
The little thing sure has plenty of tricks.
“Stay obediently on my right hand, or else I’ll feed you to Him!”
How much self-awareness the Tai Sui possessed remained a question mark for now.
Yet it indeed remained obedient, adhering flat against Bai Cha’s palm.
Bai Cha felt it with her other hand, detecting no anomalies whatsoever.
Setting her mind at ease, she planted another Dodder Vine seed into it.
This instance didn’t require two seeds; although logically speaking two seeds could parasitize the same host to accelerate the process, given Mother Han’s situation, it was hardly necessary.
The extra seed she planted now could remain inside the Tai Sui’s body if carried out of the instance—this was the true foundation of her confidence in dealing with the Tai Sui.
Buried under the blanket, Bai Cha shed a few more tears. By the time Mother Han returned, what met her eyes was Bai Cha emerging from under the blanket with rimmed-red, swollen eyes.
A wave of pure, heartbreaking distress consumed Mother Han’s heart instantly.
She sat down carefully beside Bai Cha.
“Mom didn’t dare buy anything fancy. Drink some light porridge first.”
She handed it to Bai Cha.
Bai Cha noticed that she still hadn’t bought a portion for herself.
She let out a thoroughly helpless sigh in her heart.
This bad habit of Mother Han’s was truly hard to break.
“Why aren’t you drinking?”
“Mom already drank while buying it.”
The words were spoken by the two of them in unison.
Mother Han looked at the expressionless Bai Cha in an instant panic.
“Ying-ying…”
“Mom… forget it.”
Bai Cha took the porridge and sipped it in small mouthfuls.
Silence descended upon the ward room once more.
Bai Cha drank a little and felt full; her stomach felt uncomfortable, or rather, her entire internal organs felt miserable.
“I’m not eating anymore.”
“Eat a little more. You only drank a tiny bit, how can that be enough?”
“You can manage without drinking anything at all, so why can’t I?” Bai Cha countered.
Mother Han fell silent. Following that, she quietly took the porridge and downed it in one gulp.
Wiping her tears, she spoke: “Mom drank it. Mom has drunk it all. Don’t blame Mom anymore, alright? Mom’s heart hurts so much!”
Bai Cha pursed her lips.
Her face carried a sense of loneliness and pain.
“Mom, I want to leave the hospital.”
“Can you stop having so many ideas!” Mother Han lost control slightly.
“I’ve already accommodated you in everything, but everything I do is for your own good! Stop being willful right now, alright? Mom won’t harm you, so why do you always refuse to listen to Mom? Why do you always turn around to accuse Mom instead? Do you resent me?!”
A faint crimson glint seeped through her eyes.
Bai Cha sensed a wave of intent to kill.
In truth, the bullet chat on her end had been debating continuously over what kind of daughter Mother Han truly desired.
Judging by the current situation, Mother Han would treat every streamer remarkably well.
The performance on Bai Cha’s end appeared exceptionally moving.
Yet certain actions by Bai Cha naturally stirred plenty of discussion as well.
[Told you not to say those things recklessly! Look, you made her angry…]
[Please, this isn’t actually your mom—this is a Crimson Demon that has devoured at least over a hundred of its own kind!]
[But this mom… still, what the streamer did was indeed for her own good.]
[It’s meaningless! Doing this is completely meaningless!]
[Then what else should be done? Just act like the other streamers, currently playing the role of a obedient, cute child to secure a satisfactory evaluation and clear the game?]
[Speaking of obedient and cute, isn’t the streamer acting like a sensible child right now?]
[Stop arguing! I just want to see how the streamer spins this!]
Bai Cha uttered nothing.
She merely displayed that gaze that brought Mother Han extreme agony once more.
A gaze of sorrowful pity that completely belied what a child ought to possess.
Mother Han’s expression grew increasingly contorted.
“Ying-ying, why do you always look at me like that?”
Her voice sounded soft and slow, yet her body stood up gradually, bending down to loom over Bai Cha.
“Are you still my Ying-ying?”
One of her hands had gradually turned crimson red, the knuckles broad, the fingers twice as long as a normal human’s.
Bai Cha still uttered nothing, merely staring at her quietly.
“I told you, don’t look at me with that kind of gaze!!”
Mother Han raised her hand high and thrust it downward with sudden violence, aiming straight for Bai Cha’s eyes.
Bai Cha didn’t even blink, allowing the sharp nails to expand rapidly before her eyes.
Just as her fingers were about to touch Bai Cha’s eyes, Mother Han halted.
Her body trembled subtly, her face drenched in tears.
“Why didn’t you dodge? Aren’t you afraid Mom will gouge your eyes out?”
Bai Cha spoke at long last.
“Mom, I want to leave the hospital.”
Her voice sounded calm, devoid of the slightest ripple or wave.
“Ah!!!”
Mother Han shrieked in absolute breakdown, covering her face as she collapsed back into the chair, weeping bitterly.
Her body returned to normal, her frail frame appearing profoundly pitiful.
Pitiful indeed.
Bai Cha let out a soft sigh, shuffling to the edge of the bed to hug her gently.
Mother Han’s body trembled softly.
“Mom, can you accompany me through my final stretch of time?”
Mother Han wrapped her arms around her in reverse, weeping aloud in desperate sorrow.
