“AAAH—!”
A man’s terrified scream echoed from outside the door.
Scared out of his wits, he crashed heavily onto his rear on the floor.
“Li Yun” grabbed the handle, flinging the door wide open.

Word had it that people possessed by ghosts walked on tiptoes.
The man scrambled backward on all fours on the spot, desperately trying to flee outward.
“Li Yun” tilted her head, casting a glance at him.
Her heart stirred slightly—if she were indeed a ghost, she ought to possess some special ability, right?

“Li Yun” raised her hand, summoning all her strength, attempting to extend her arm.
Zero reaction.
Oh! She was a female ghost, and female ghosts usually attacked with hair, which meant her hair should grow longer.

A strange sensation surfaced as her hair actually seemed to grow.
“Li Yun” looked down, only to discover that fine, pale-yellow vines were sprouting forth from her hair.
Controlling these vines to leap into the air, they caught up to the man who had scrambled over to the doorway almost in an instant, coiling tightly around his ankles.
An excited gleam shone deep within “Li Yun’s” eyes.
So she truly wasn’t human!
Amidst a barrage of blood-curdling screams, the man was dragged back into the room by “Li Yun.”
Slamming the door shut, “Li Yun” crouched on the floor, staring at the man lying on the ground, frantically screaming and struggling.
“Why did you come to my house?” She looked at him with a beaming smile.
Dodder vines coiled around the man’s body, their tiny suckers slowly piercing into his skin.
This drove the man into an even deeper frenzy of panic.
“Spare me… I’m sorry! I didn’t know, I just wanted to come in and steal a few things… Please, I beg you! Spare me!”
“Li Yun” asked curiously, “If you came in to steal things, why did you come straight to my bedroom? Didn’t you know someone was home?”
The man’s face turned even paler in an instant.
“I… I just… I’m sorry, please spare me! I’m guilty, I’m guilty! I saw that you lived here alone, so a wicked thought crossed my mind, I… spare me, spare me! If all else fails, call the police to take me away, I beg you! I confess, I’ll confess to any crime! Get the police to take me away, okay?!”
As he spoke, he began kowtowing frantically, slamming his forehead against the floor until blood trickled out.

Only “she” lived here alone?

No response came from the doorway, as if her mother had already headed back.
“Li Yun” slowly retracted her vines, but discovered these vines had no way to shrink back.
How distressing.
She had no choice but to snip the vines off.
After being cut off, these vines quickly withered away.
“Li Yun” curiously gathered all the withered vines, examining them for a long moment; unable to discern anything, she tossed them straight into the trash can.
Standing up to stare at the unconscious man on the floor, she picked up her phone and dialed the police.
Sigh, even though she wasn’t human, another ghost sharing roughly her identity existed outside after all, and she had no idea whether they would get along.
In the event that the ghost outside was hostile toward her, wouldn’t exposing the fact that she already knew she wasn’t human cause her to die even faster?

Siren blares soon echoed outside.
When the police arrived, they found the front door wide open.

“In here.”

“Wake up, can you hear me?” An officer patted the man’s face on the floor.
The man’s eyelids fluttered, finally opening slowly.
Catching sight of the police officers in uniform, he broke into tears on the spot, lunging forward to hug the officer.
“I’m guilty, I’m guilty! I confess! I lost my mind to lust and tried to do something terrible—arrest me, please!”

After tossing and turning for most of the night, the police looked at the statement in their hands, their brows still furrowed in a tight knot.

A short while later, he rambled in utter confusion, saying “Li Yun’s” mother was a ghost too, residing in this very room—that he had personally seen “Li Yun’s” mother die with his own eyes, being carried down to be sent for cremation. Yet he had heard the voice of “Li Yun’s” mother just now.
Meanwhile, “Li Yun” feigned complete ignorance to everything, claiming the man had simply gone insane.
Ultimately, with overwhelming evidence and an undeniable motive, the man was taken away.
As for his claims about encountering ghosts, they decided to take him back for further examination to check whether he had ingested certain illicit substances.
Because… an officer had opened the door to the room where the mother resided.
Aside from a stale, decaying scent, the room was completely empty.
“Li Yun” stood silently at the doorway, gazing into that room.
Truth be told, could it really be described as completely empty?
She was right there, resting on the bed, staring straight at them.

“You should still be careful living alone. You were lucky today—if something had actually happened, it would have been terrible.”
Before departing, the police officer kindly offered a word of caution.

Behind her, at the doorway of the bedroom, stood an elderly woman.
She let out low, dry coughs.

She spoke up.

“Li Yun” kept her eyes lowered, remaining silent for three seconds, before raising her gaze and turning around.
