[Gold Medal Salesperson] Off Work and Heading Home

Chapter 186: [Gold Medal Salesperson] Off Work and Heading Home

Unsurprisingly, that buyer still went ahead and filed a complaint.

Li Yun didn’t care anymore, though.

She only felt vastly better inside.

It was a form of pure, soul-soothing gratification, even if accompanied by a lingering sense of panicked, edge-of-the-seat dread.

That insecurity and anxiety stemmed from the prospect of losing the job itself.

Amidst these contradictory emotions, Li Yun’s hands didn’t pause for a single moment.

Buyer: Why is this product of yours so much trouble? I don’t want it anymore, give me a refund.

After-Sales 07: Why is it that only you find it troublesome while nobody else does? Have you ever stopped to reflect on whether you’re just being far too picky? Everyone else set it up and used it just fine, but you’re full of complaints! And a refund? In your dreams!

Buyer: ???

Buyer: Why are you resorting to personal attacks?! How are you even working in after-sales service?

After-Sales 07: I’ll work however I damn well please! Who are you to teach me how to do my job?

Buyer: …

Buyer: Just you wait, I’m going to file a complaint against you!

After-Sales 07: Go ahead, go right ahead! I’m not afraid to tell you that my complaint rate is at a hundred percent! HAHAHAHA! Bet you didn’t expect that, did you?!

Buyer: ???

Buyer: Complained! You absolute lunatic, go get yourself fired!

Handling one or two like this had left Li Yun feeling somewhat uneasy at first, but by the end, she had completely abandoned all trace of anxiety.

Moreover… she noticed something interesting: although her complaint rate remained at one hundred percent, her return and refund rate had actually dropped down to 80%.

Because after being chewed out by her, these people only remembered to file complaints, giving up on attempting to request returns and refunds altogether.

Was this the law of give and take? Gaining pure joy at the cost of her refund and return metrics.

Fantastic!

Li Yun threw caution to the wind and slacked off completely.

Her series of aggressive, fierce counterattacks actually drove her response rate up, and her return and refund rate plummeted down to 50% by the time the boss showed up at clock-out time.

Aside from her complaint rate remaining stubbornly at 100%, her other performance metrics didn’t look nearly as terrible anymore.

“Alright, all of you newcomers follow me to the conference room.”

Having already clocked out, being called into the conference room left everyone feeling thoroughly irritated.

No one was in a good mood after a day like this to begin with—who could keep their spirits up after encountering a horde of idiots day in and day out?

Wait, no… someone caught sight of the faint smile lingering at the corners of Li Yun’s lips.

“Did you get driven completely insane by those customers?” someone whispered to her in a low voice.

Li Yun immediately offered him a massive, beaming smile.

“Not at all, I’m just happy.”

“…”

Yep, truly out of her mind.

Inside the conference room, Li Dao-peng wore a grave, somber expression.

“You are all well aware of your performance throughout the day, aren’t you?”

The group remained silent.

“Li Yun, I mentioned at noon that if your complaint rate remained at one hundred percent by this evening, I would begin special training for you. You really outdid yourself—you actually kept it at a hundred percent!”

Being called out yet again, Li Yun once more received sympathetic gazes from everyone present.

Mainly because a one-hundred-percent complaint rate was truly far too tragic.

Even though the lowest among the rest of them hit a staggering 91%, making it a case of the pot calling the kettle black, 100% was still undeniably pitiful.

“However, boss, although my complaint rate remained at one hundred percent, didn’t you notice that my response rate went up and my return/refund rate dropped?”

“Yes, of course I noticed! Otherwise, do you think you’d still be standing here?!” Li Dao-peng looked as if he were laughing out of sheer exasperation.

“Alright, I get it now! None of you recruits have the right attitude! If you still want this job, arrive at the company an hour early tomorrow morning, and I will conduct special training for you! In a bit, I’ll send a collective email to all of you. You need to read through the contents tonight in advance to prepare for tomorrow’s training. If you don’t want the special training, you can pack up and leave!”

If we leave, we leave—who’s afraid of who?!

This thought crossed practically everyone’s mind simultaneously.

Yet the strange anxiety that immediately followed, coupled with an inexplicable sense of crisis, forced them to abandon the idea.

It was as if quitting the job would trigger something terribly disastrous.

It wasn’t merely economic hardship or anything similar, but a mysterious, instinctual dread.

Thus, no one uttered a word.

“Since no one has any objections, head back early today,” Li Dao-peng’s tone softened abruptly as he switched his demeanor.

“It’s getting late, so be careful on the road. Remember not to bring work frustrations home to your families. Of course, I also hope you won’t bring personal life emotions into your work. Learn to separate work from life and maintain an optimistic mindset. It’s fine if you didn’t do well today; I believe you will definitely succeed after the special training!”

“I spoke a bit strictly today, but it was mostly for your own good. Work is work, after all. However, in private, you can treat me as a friend. Once off work, I’m just like you. Let’s all work hard—isn’t everything for our own benefit, in the end?”

As Li Dao-peng spoke, he even patted a few male colleagues on the shoulder.

“Work hard, I’ll buy you guys drinks in a couple of days!”

The male colleagues forced faint smiles.

“How is everyone heading back? Is it convenient? Where does everyone live? If it’s on the way, I can give you a ride!” Li Dao-peng added, walking out alongside them.

“No need, we all have our own rides.”

Everyone hastily declined.

“Don’t be so formal. Didn’t I say that after work, I’m a friend just like you? I’m only strict during work hours—after all, we have to separate work and off-work time, right?”

Another round of awkward, forced chuckles echoed from the group.

This excruciatingly awkward atmosphere persisted all the way downstairs.

“Alright then, since none of you want to hang out with me, the boss, I’ll just head off on my own!”

With more fake smiles, the group saw him off before exchanging silent glances with one another.

Though merely a single day had passed, everyone shared a mutual sense of camaraderie, likely born from sharing the exact same miserable plight.

“Ahem, well, I’ll be taking off first. We still have to arrive an hour early tomorrow, right? We agreed on 10 AM, but now we have to show up at 9 AM—unbelievable!”

Li Yun had to head back as well.

She still had to prepare an entire day’s worth of food tomorrow morning.

Furthermore, she was likely the one living furthest away among everyone present.

Letting out a sigh, Li Yun hopped onto her electric scooter, riding all the way toward home.

By the time she arrived home, it was already past midnight.

In the dead of night, the outside world had long fallen into a silence devoid of sound.

Li Yun parked her electric scooter in the hallway, then began making her way upstairs.

The voice-activated lights in the old apartment building functioned sporadically at best.

Taking two steps up, Li Yun suddenly paused in her tracks.

It was so quiet.

Why was it so quiet?

Li Yun sensed a trace of an unusual atmosphere.

The voice-activated light went dark once more.

Darkness granted people far sharper sensory perceptions.

“Cough, cough…”

An aged voice let out a couple of dry coughs.

The sound seemed to emanate from directly behind her.

Li Yun whipped her head around sharply.

“Who’s there?”

Strangely enough, though her heart ought to have been terrified, not a single shred of fear surfaced within her.

In the pitch-black darkness, an elderly figure slowly materialized.
