Chapter 174: Hehe, Your Grandpa Is Back
The spacious private room was dead quiet.
Yan Luo was still holding a wine glass in his hand, just about to bring it to his lips, when the sudden stop made the wine slosh out, splashing onto the white shirt underneath.
He abruptly turned to look at the kid sitting right next to him, staring for a long moment with a strange expression. His throat bobbed, and for the first time in his life, he stammered, “Xiao Bai, this… actually, actually it’s nothing…”
The others were stunned for a second, then immediately started jeering again. “What’s the big deal? It’s fine, totally fine. Your Brother Li’s seen plenty of this. I’ve got two like that under me…”
After the brief awkwardness, the atmosphere was stirred back to life. They didn’t force Nan Xun to play with women anymore, but right in front of him they put on quite a few intense ‘action scenes’ and poured a lot of alcohol into him.
Nan Xun noticed the man beside him had been staring at him the whole time. That gaze was so scorching it almost burned—like it was about to sear holes into his face.
He suddenly turned his head, but only saw Yan Luo calmly tasting red wine, eyes straight ahead, not glancing sideways at all.
Nan Xun let out a drunken hiccup, his mind starting to go fuzzy.
Had he drunk too much and started hallucinating?
Just as Nan Xun slowly closed his eyes, ready to nap for a bit to let the alcohol wear off, a loud holy shit exploded in his head and jolted him wide awake.
“Holy shit! Darling, shouldn’t you be in prison? How did you get out? Aaaah, my god—why is Grandpa seeing a live spring palace scene?! Where is this? Some kind of den of debauchery?” Little Eight fired off a string of questions.
Nan Xun was startled.
“Little Eight!”
“Sigh, it’s Grandpa. Miss me?”
Nan Xun was completely puzzled. “Little Eight, didn’t you say it’d take at least three years? It’s only been a few months—how did you come out of seclusion already?”
Little Eight snorted. “Wasn’t I worried you’d die in prison? I rummaged around my space forever and finally found a high-grade Spirit-Gathering Pill. Then Grandpa absorbed spiritual energy day and night—finally recovered ahead of schedule!”
“Darling, are you moved? Grandpa really is the best Void Beast in the world.”
Nan Xun: “So moved I’m crying my eyes out.”
Little Eight chuckled twice. “Then Grandpa will take you out of here right now.”
Nan Xun: “Wait!”
Little Eight: “What’s up, dear?”
Nan Xun: “I’m in the middle of a party. Wouldn’t it be kind of bad to just die like this?”
Little Eight: “You smell like alcohol—you’ve been drinking, right? Perfect. Alcohol poisoning death. Flawless.”
Nan Xun: …
“Little Eight, don’t rush yet. Help me take a look at the man next to me—does he look familiar?”
Little Eight: “Familiar my ass. Grandpa doesn’t—HOLY SHIT! Isn’t this the big bad villain boss of this world?!”
Nan Xun copied its hehe laugh. “Yep. I’m sworn brothers with the big boss now. I’ve successfully infiltrated the big boss’s inner circle.”
Little Eight went silent for a moment, then suddenly shouted, “That’s useless! A lackey can’t possibly eliminate the evil intention on him!”
“Brotherhood can move heaven and earth, okay? Don’t believe me? Test it. I’ll bet the big boss’s evil intention has definitely gone down.”
A moment later, Little Eight yelled again, “Holy shit! It really went down!”
Nan Xun’s eyes lit up. “By how much?”
Little Eight: “A lot! It’s only been a few months and it’s already dropped by 10 points! The darkening value hasn’t changed though—it’s still the original 50.”
Nan Xun quietly let out a breath of relief, his tail practically about to stick straight up.
“Xiao Bai, are you drunk?” Yan Luo suddenly asked, frowning slightly as he reached out and touched Nan Xun’s face.
Red and burning hot.
“Not drunk!” Nan Xun was in a great mood. He grabbed a glass and chugged it down.
With that glass in his stomach, the world started spinning. Nan Xun shook his head. “Bro, don’t worry, I’m not drunk—my head’s just a little dizzy.”
Yan Luo looked at the kid who kept insisting he wasn’t drunk, stepped forward, caught him, then carried him out of the bar on his back.
Nan Xun obediently hugged the man’s broad back and immediately bragged to Little Eight. “See that? The big boss is carrying me himself. I’ve got weight in his heart.”
Little Eight was doubtful. “Could brotherhood really work?”
“Why not try? I was planning to leave after three years anyway. It’s only been half a year so far.”
“Waaah, I’m so mad! If I’d known you were already out of prison and had successfully made contact with the big boss, I wouldn’t have wasted a high-grade Spirit-Gathering Pill no matter what. My heart hurts so bad.”
Nan Xun smacked his lips a couple of times and fell asleep on the big boss’s back.
The next day, Nan Xun woke up on an extra-large bed. It had been ages since he’d slept on something this soft—every cell in his body was moaning in comfort.
“Why has your sleeping posture become so damn macho?” Little Eight cried out in shock.
Nan Xun’s sleeping posture was downright unrestrained—a perfect spread-eagle, and he’d even crossed one leg over the other in his sleep.
Little Eight’s impression of Nan Xun was still stuck on the elegant, composed, brave-and-brilliant Noble Consort Qin persona from the last world. Now, seeing a full-on macho dude, it felt like a bolt from the blue—its entire beast self felt unwell.
Nan Xun didn’t care and stretched lazily. “Environment shapes people. I’ve been in prison for months—did you really expect me to still be as noble and elegant as Noble Consort Qin? Is that even possible?”
Little Eight whimpered. It had once thought it was a beast good at reading faces—able to tell what kind of person Nan Xun was at a glance. Now it admitted it couldn’t read him at all.
Whenever it thought Nan Xun was dumb, she’d suddenly get smart, schemes flowing effortlessly. But whenever it thought she was shrewd, she’d start acting stupid again. And her adaptability was insanely strong—drop her into a new body and she’d adjust to the new persona in minutes. Like now—she’d genuinely started seeing herself as a macho man.
Little Eight was baffled.
Was this woman pretending to be dumb or not? But who in the world could pretend this hard? This was basically pretending with her life.
Nan Xun picked up the new clothes beside the bed and started changing. He was only halfway done when the door was suddenly flung open.
Nan Xun was so startled he hurriedly pulled on his pants, nearly scared half to death by the person at the door.
Yan Man burst out laughing. “Xiao Bai, I didn’t see anything, really!”
Nan Xun: Brat.
Yan Man had come to call Nan Xun down for a meal. He followed her to the living room on the first floor. It was a small villa—given Yan Luo’s net worth, it definitely wasn’t luxurious. The furniture looked quite ordinary, all Chinese-style rosewood pieces.
Nan Xun noticed a large display shelf against the wall on the first floor. Each compartment held an antique, along with various jade-crafted ornaments—at a glance, all extremely valuable.
Yan Man noticed his gaze, giggled, and leaned closer to whisper, “Xiao Bai, let me tell you—my brother’s a real old antique himself. He loves collecting this kind of stuff, and he doesn’t like watching TV news at all—only newspapers.”
Nan Xun couldn’t help laughing. “Manman, do you always badmouth your brother behind his back? You’re really cute.”
Yan Man was briefly dazzled by his smile. She didn’t get shy though—just grinned and said, “During the two-plus months you were in prison, my brother was always praising you in front of me. I suspect he wants to recruit you as my future brother-in-law.”
“Cough—cough cough cough!” Nan Xun choked on his own saliva.
